Wow, 7 games below the Vegas line! And only Abe has the "under" in our contest!
And just look at pathetic Utah! Vegas has them even worse at 18.5 wins. If we haven't put the "who won the Gobert trade" talk to bed already, another horrible season for the Jazz will certainly end the discussion. We're winning, they're losing, and we even seem to have more young talent than them despite the loss of picks. They have much better skiing though.
Sundog, Ben Beecken talked about this on his podcast last week...he was outraged. Kevin Pelton takes a very mathematical statistical approach to his projections. But he admits that the Wolves were his biggest miss last year...he forecast only 42.7 wins last year! Apparently his stat model doesn't work very well with respect to the Wolves.
Ant makes the ascension into top 5 player status
Jaden channels his inner Pippen on a consistent basis
Goberts pts and Rebs both dip under 10 for the first time in a decade, but goes unnoticed because his impact remains the same.
Randle has made himself more comfortable in his new environment with a whole offseason to do so. He’s ready to them a 20,8 and 6 season
Naz may not see much change in avgs but I think he’s ready to contribute more big games and in games it was really needed for the win.
Donte makes 4 threes a games, ups his assists and brings defensive intensity that Jaden feeds off of.
Shannon plays well early earning more minutes by midseason, the last 30 games he avgs 12 per and the second units most consistent scorer.
Rob struggles to get minutes as his size makes him a liability on D.
The Wolves lead the league in margin of victory and earn the 1 seed with an NBA best 64-18 record

Problem with the stat model is you still have to have an opinion on new players/how players develop or decline/team chemistry/etc.... Like how do you plug in data for something you have never seen? It's all just a guess.

Love it! Optimistic win total prediction and sub-predictions that tell the story behind it.
