I heard Ant was working with Joan this summer as far as passing and lobbing it to a big man. I don't believe Rudy was in town to work with Ant though, at least I didn't see any news on it. They say play making is the hardest thing to learn in the NBA, if you aren't already good at it.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Wed Nov 19, 2025 6:46 pmYeah, the fact Ant and Randle don't involve him more is not entirely Rudy's fault. In Utah he had Conley AND Ingles getting him the ball where he likes it. Yes, he fumbles the ball away more than a normal basketball player with two functioning hands should, but he is often in a position where the percentages favor him catching and dunking vs. a tough contested shot by Randle and Ant. I'll take the 75% play over the 50% play every time. Alas, I don't see that changing much despite Finch's exhortations.FNG wrote: ↑Wed Nov 19, 2025 6:40 pm A lot of good discussion here, but I probably should have titled this thread "The importance of getting Rudy involved in the offense". Based on a small sample size this season, we seem to have a better chance of winning when Rudy takes at least 7 shots. Mike is one of the few T-wolves who tries to get Rudy involved, so with him starting tonight, I expect the Wolves to go to 7-1 when Rudy takes 7 or more shots.

Ant lacks both a passing instinct and precision. The assists he gets are mostly from drawing so much attention as a scorer.rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 19, 2025 7:10 pmI heard Ant was working with Joan this summer as far as passing and lobbing it to a big man. Ant unsuccessfully trying to shoot himself out of a slump.

Re: The importance of Rudy
We won a game with Rudy getting less than 7 shots, but I think we could have beaten woeful Washington even with him and Jaden on the bench. We're now 5-1 when he gets more shots, and 5-4 when he doesn't.
So many times last night Rudy set a nice screen and had his hand up as he rolled to the basket with a smaller guy on him, but he was ignored...most often by Ant. I understand that his hands are bad, but a pass put in exactly the right place would have resulted in an easy dunk. I sensed he was frustrated again last night, and to me it showed up in his inactivity on the defensive end. Fortunately we were only playing the Wizards.

Re: The importance of Rudy
I mentioned it in the game thread, but there was a play where Ant had two on him and Rudy was wide open underneath the hoop. I mean, it was a certain dunk. Ant instead threw it to Clark in the corner. Thanks to the Wizards ineptitude, Rudy was STILL wide open under the hoop. Clark threw it to Rudy, he caught it, and then was fouled. Had Ant made the initial pass Rudy would have probably gotten the open dunk as there was no one even close enough to him at that point to foul him!FNG wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 9:02 am We won a game with Rudy getting less than 7 shots, but I think we could have beaten woeful Washington even with him and Jaden on the bench. It just goes to demonstrate that the Rudy offensive issues with Minnesota aren't 100% on Rudy. Randle and Ant only pass to him begrudgingly and/or because Finch calls them out in the film room.

Re: The importance of Rudy
He played a nice game, however I think you're right we need to feed our 76% shooter a bit more. The percentage play is to pass him the ball when he's open. He might fumble which seems too often, but reality is it's a 76% shot, versus a eFG maybe 50% shot by someone else. It's simple math at that point. You can afford a turnover or two even over the long run when it's a dunk or layup 76% is more then 50%!FNG wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 9:02 am We won a game with Rudy getting less than 7 shots, but I think we could have beaten woeful Washington even with him and Jaden on the bench. Also by feeding Rudy with the easy pass it'll force teams to more tightly guard him and leave Ant one on one. Not feeding him means you're more easily doubled, and doubled just making your life difficult.
Just make the right BB play and win.

You work with what you have, Rudy has bad hands, Ant isn't a good passer.FNG wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 9:02 am We won a game with Rudy getting less than 7 shots, but I think we could have beaten woeful Washington even with him and Jaden on the bench. Passing to Rudy would be my last resort as it is with Ant and Julius. If he even had Edward Scissorhands he would be a better option.
