Our players are always better than other teams players because we drafted them. It's this mind set that paralyzes fan bases from seeing the forest through the trees. Ant is a gifted player that can put his team on his back and win a game. It does not mean he's the complete package. It's obvious he hasn't reached that status and I still expect him to have a relatively short career. If you're being objective, Giannis would give us a far better chance of winning a title than Ant over the next 3 years. This trade is never going to happen, but if you really care about winning a championship you should want it to. Maybe we get Giannis and Ant which would be incredible.

To swap one for the other doesn't change the problem on this team, so unless the goal was to pair them both together (which it should-- anyone else trying to acquire him isn't swapping out their best player to do so), the conversation of Giannis vs. Ant is kinda pointless.

In a vacuum Gainnis would offer a better chance this year; speculating three years from now is dubious. it's also not just swapping Ant for Gainnis, the question is whether your better after paying the cost to acquire him with Ant being a part of that cost. I'm certain the answer is no, and I am a big fan of Gainnis

It's strictly a theoretical argument to have because there are all sorts of reasons Connelly wouldn't make that trade that goes beyond simply Giannis > Ant as a player right now.

So assuming Ant is off the table, the real asset that Milwaukee would demand is Jaden and I can't imagine any sort of deal the Bucks would agree to not including Jaden. So it would have to be Jaden + [insert other names/picks] to match salaries and overall asset value.

But yesh, any thought that the Bucks wouid trade Giannis for a package that doesn’t include Jaden or Ant is naive I think, unless we could sweeten the deal with multiple first round picks…which of course we can’t.

Ya I’m not naive knowing that Jaden would have to be in a Giannis trade. That’s a very interesting discussion if that is worth it. You would have next year and the year after to go for the title what would be intriguing.

After reading all the posts in this thread, I’m even more down on the idea of swapping Ant for Giannis than I was previously. Beyond that one suggested swap, I just keep in coming back to the fact that we’re 8 games over .500 and only 2 game out of 2nd place in the West after just winning two in a row without our star, including a win on the road against a pretty good Golden State team. Naz struggled early as he was clearly struggling with the murder of his sister and the team overall got off to a slow start. The team still isn’t firing on all cylinders consistently but we’re not even half way through the long NBA season. We can all fantasize about how great it would be to have certain players on this team, but it’s critical to consider who we’d have to give up to get one of those players and the trade’s overall NET impact on the team. If our front office is out there trying to trade for a PG because they believe they have to, the rest of the league’s front office executives will circle like sharks in bloody water and the Wolves will get fleeced.

Let’s see how this season plays out. If changes are needed, those changes should be made next summer = carefully and strategically.

I should explain what I mean by a relatively short career. I think he will basically be done playing in his early 30's, much like Allen Iverson's career went. The athleticism will begin to fade, he will be more of a jump shooter, and his defense will become a problem. He doesn't have the basketball intelligence of an MJ, or a Kobe to compensate for his diminishing athletic traits. And yes, i think the off-court decisions will contribute to his downfall. I should also say this is only my opinion. But I believe people like to read my opinions because I've pinpointed enough things throughout the years, that i get a measure of respect. But I"ve also been wrong plenty of times, so if you don't agree, that's okay.

I think that's where I am also, Lip...teams shouldn't be looking at a big move after winning 6 out of 7. But then again this is TC...we've learned he's not your typical POBO. And some reasonably reliable sources have written about him inquiring about Kyrie, Coby, Giannis and even Ja. He seems to be out there trying to make something happen, but I lean toward standing pat.

I’ve been looking at that deal, kek, but I’m having a hard time getting the salaries to match…might have to get a third team involved

Nobody jumped on board with this idea earlier. But with Mike already limited to well under 20 minutes a game, his recent struggles on the court, and now his Achilles problem, maybe he should retire and join the coaching staff?

If all parties were on board with the idea, Mike could be traded to Utah for SloMo, who is under contract his year and next. Mike would retire in Utah and then join the Wolves coaching staff. SloMo is familiar with the system and many of the players. He adds frontcourt depth along with ballhandling skills. He would be a pretty nice fit on this team for areas we are sometimes lacking.
