Re: Point Guard Options
The unfortunate counterpoint to both of our desires is that next year Fox will make more than Randle and Donte combined. Nice player, but he's not worth that
Re: Point Guard Options
Thoughts on Jared McCain?
Re: Point Guard Options
Charlotte is in the East, so they all still have a chance to make the playoffs.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 9:18 amI really don't see what Sexton does for this team.Phenom wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 9:03 am There is some Collin Sexton steam. Sounds like the Hornets want to make a playoff push. I just don't see the matching salary that makes sense. Mike, Rob and and Lenny get us there but that isnt a playoff type move for them. So then another team would have to want those guys. Mike is also playing pretty well in his role.
I'm growing pretty skeptical that anything goes down, which is fine because everyone is playing good basketball for the most part. Maybe another team wants to make an upside swing on Rob and/or TJ and that could make some sense.
Also Charlotte saying they want to make a playoff push is hilarious
Re: Point Guard Options
I must admit, I have not paid much attention to him. I remember he received all sorts of accolades as a rookie last year. I took a peek, and he has fallen off a cliff statistically. Was he injured for awhile?
Are you thinking that the good stuff from last year is going to return? And have you read something that says he might be available? And what are you thinking it would take to get him?
I'm not sure TC is looking for someone that is quite that raw...
Re: Point Guard Options
McCain was a highly touted prospect coming out oh high school and Duke, but he has been really bad this season. He's only making 38% of his 2-point shots this season, a level close to Conley, Rob and TJ. And I see him as more of an undersized SG than a PG. Kek might be thinking he's a guy who could benefit from a change in scenery, but I don't think he would be a good fit for us.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sat Dec 27, 2025 8:59 amI must admit, I have not paid much attention to him. Article from ESPN's basketball analysts on best potential trade targets in terms of fit for the various playoff contenders. Here is the excerpt on Minnesota:
Player they could target: All the Timberwolves need is an organizing point guard with size and shooting ability who won't add salary. Easy! Even Minnesota native Tyus Jones would probably be out of the Timberwolves' price range at $7 million. One player who could make sense is Memphis guard Scotty Pippen Jr., who has three remaining seasons on a minimum-level contract. With Cam Spencer's emergence and Ty Jerome also due back, the Grizzlies might see Pippen as expendable before he returns from toe surgery around the All-Star break. -- Pelton

Yes please, he was Memphis one bright spot in the playoffs last year.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:27 am Article from ESPN's basketball analysts on best potential trade targets in terms of fit for the various playoff contenders. Here is the excerpt on Minnesota:

I've always liked Pippin and he's cheap, but he's the same size as Hyland. I think I prefer the new improved pass-first Bones to Pippin coming off knee surgery. Hyland has been a pleasant surprise for me this season.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:27 am Article from ESPN's basketball analysts on best potential trade targets in terms of fit for the various playoff contenders. Re: Point Guard Options
Pippen is waaay better defensively than Bones though. But I agree that Bones has been a smashing success so far as an upgrade to Dillingham in the rotation. He gets paired with Mike Conley at times which obfuscates a full assessment of how he'd do if given "full-time" backup PG duties. I'm pretty confident that Pippen would usurp both Conley and Bones' minutes and we'd be a lot better defensively in the non-Rudy minutes with him and Clark out there. I do agree there are risks with him coming off injury though.FNG wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:47 amI've always liked Pippin and he's cheap, but he's the same size as Hyland.
