After last night, Dillingham is now in the 66th percentile of NBA defenders according to Estimated Plus Minus. That's the good news. The bad news is he's considered the worst offensive player in the NBA according to the same metric.
Who would have thought that Rob would be a neutral-ish defender and league-worst shooter/offensive player coming out of Kentucky? It's nuts.

I'd put money on him finding his shot, so I'd say it's very very encouraging that he has innate defensive skills that will enable him to be a pest and hopefully a good team defenderQ-is-here wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 10:09 pm After last night, Dillingham is now in the 66th percentile of NBA defenders according to Estimated Plus Minus. I agree. I’d be concerned if he hadn’t developed into a remarkably solid pesky defender. I like his tenacity and instincts defensively. I also like that he’s shown significant improvement protecting the ball - avoiding silly turnovers. The more I see of him, the more I see a truly gifted passer/playmaker. Those are the things he needs to show and he’s shown them. His shooting will be fine. He’s shot well at every level. I’ve watched him consistently nail his threes in pre-game warmups. And again, you can’t give any meaningful weight to the stats of a player averaging only 11 minutes per game.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 11:10 pmI'd put money on him finding his shot, so I'd say it's very very encouraging that he has innate defensive skills that will enable him to be a pest and hopefully a good team defenderQ-is-here wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 10:09 pm After last night, Dillingham is now in the 66th percentile of NBA defenders according to Estimated Plus Minus. If the object is to have the best chance of wining games right now, I’d put Bones ahead of Rob in the PG rotation. But looking ahead to March and beyond into the playoffs and next season, Rob is the guy in my view. The first hurdle psychologically for Finch is to move on from Mike Conley.

To be honest the playmaking still feel uncertain to me, I see what he's trying to do some of the time but as I'm not as sold on the instincts as you, but I'll acknowledge that you could be seeing more than ILipoli390 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 10:14 amI agree. Re: Individual Stats Tracker 2025-26 Season
I'll just keep plugging this because it's a really great resource
https://apanalytics.shinyapps.io/DARKO/
I was curious if there was any useful or encouraging statical information that we could glean regarding Rob and what so cool about DARKO is that it's really easy to compare players across generations even.
Anyway, I plugged in Rob, Fox, Conley, Garland and Jamal Crawford for the hell of it. You can compare multiple different stats, like ast/100 or ast%, RimFG%, ECT and there is also DARKOs signature stat, DPM.
Rob's DPM is very discouraging, but when you track other stats you get a better picture and it's a bit more encouraging. For example his Ast% compared to those players at similar ages or games played is in a good place- higher than Mike's, well below Foxs, and right in line with Garland's.
The stats don't tell the whole story but this tool does offer clues and really has helped paint a picture for me of how significant of a factor age is. Consistently good players have had an upward trend that only level off at about 25 to 26 years old. Which is why I'm so bullish on Edwards being just fine.
Anyway I recommend giving it a perusal

Interesting info, Aussie. I’m not surprised by the large role age plays. I agree that age is another reason to remain bullish on Edwards. It’s also a reason for a lot of patience and perspective when it comes to Rob Dillingham.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 11:14 am I'll just keep plugging this because it's a really great resource

Re: Individual Stats Tracker 2025-26 Season
Ant has, over a large sample at this point, become one of the most efficient scorers on drives to the basket.
On 11.6 drives per game he his scoring 10.5 points per game which is an obscene 90% score rate on drives- up from 65% last year.
Conversely however, he is passing on 26% of drives which is down from 33% last year which accounts for a drop of .5 ast per game.
Given how successful he is on his drives it's not hard to see why he's getting less ast per game this year. I'd still like to see him to become a better playmaker from the middle of the floor as that should unlock a lot for the offense, but given the drastic improvement in his mid range game over a short period of time, it is to be expected that the playmaking still needs some time to bake

Re: Individual Stats Tracker 2025-26 Season
Ant is a significant more efficient scorer this year, but is he a effective offensive force?
Per 100 possessions, Ant generates 52.7 points- 40.2 scoring, 12.5 assisted
Last year it was 52.6 -36.7 scoring, 15.9 assisted
https://3stepsbasket.com/player/anthony ... ason=nba25
The points are more efficient and that matters but either the playmaking or the defense have to improve

Re: Individual Stats Tracker 2025-26 Season
Hadn't heard of Net Rating before, but interesting insights
https://espnanalytics.com/nba-net-pts
Here's the players net ratings and overall rank
Ant - 74 - 11th
Julius - 49 - 30th
Rudy - 28 - 52nd
Donte - 27 - 57th
Jaden - 7 - 135th
Here's an explainer:
"Net Points is a single-game performance analysis metric developed by ESPN Analytics Team to evaluate players more deeply and accurately than traditional stats. It uses play-by-play data to assign credit and blame for every play, considering the difficulty and context of each player’s actions. Net Points quantifies individual contributions like shots, assists, rebounds, turnovers, defensive plays, and their direct impact on team success or failure. This allows for a nuanced assessment of player effectiveness in single games, as well as across multiple games or seasons."

Interesting, didn't know ESPN developed a new stat. Ant is top 10 after last night.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 28, 2025 4:29 pm Hadn't heard of Net Rating before, but interesting insights

I still think it's really hard to isolate the defensive stuff, whether it's D-EPM or Net Points. Shai is a good defender, but he's never assigned to a #1 or #2 scoring option, so I think he gets overrated on that side of the ball because the team as a whole is so damn good defensively.
