Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Iowa wins today, Rocco was out with an illness, but Joan had a very impactful game. I watched some of his play and I might go back and watch the whole thing. It's just a matter of time before they start feeding him some minutes up with the big club.
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Yeah, he's looking more comfortable for sure. I think getting big minutes tonight may have helped him as he seemed to gain confidence as the game progressed. What I liked is that he made three Hartenstein-esque push shots in the lane, something I haven't really seen from him before. That is absolutely huge if he can build off that.

Looks like Rocco had a very good night, although Iowa lost the game. It's only a matter of time before he gets some run with the big club.
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
They played again last night so it was basically a back to back against the same team. Rocco wasn't nearly as effective on offense as in the first game but nevertheless was a +8 in 25 minutes of action in a 7-point win.
He is the team leader in Defensive Rating at 106.9 per 100 possessions. Joan's is 106.8 per 100 possessions, so slightly better but across fewer games of course. No one else on the team is better. As a point of comparison, the median team defensive rating in the G-League is 113.4.

What injury did Zyon have and is he done for the year? It seems like he has been out for a long time now.

It's a wrist injury, but there is no information on the severity of it or when he'll be back. It's too bad for him because I thought he was on track, similar to Newton, of getting a 10-day deal or two-way contract. He was really good to start the year and we had by far the best guard combination in the G-League with Newton and Pullin.rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 10:18 am What injury did Zyon have and is he done for the year? Speaking of G-League guards, I think it's helpful for a lob threat like Beringer to play with good guards, so in the absence of sending Dillingham down there I don't really see any further value in having Joan play in the G-League. Even Newton was a suboptimal passer out of pick and roll, but he was a hell of a lot better than Jules Bernard or their newest PG.
After his G-League stint, Joan had to be shocked (and downright giddy) at the timing and accuracy of Joe Ingles' passes on his rolls to the hoop during garbage time. He simply didn't see that in the G-League.

Jon K reports that Alize Johnson went off for 41 points and 8 rebounds yesterday, and went 8 for 8 on three pointers! Anybody know anything about him? Is he a possibility to provide some rebounding when Rudy is out?
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
He's a G-League vet that will turn 30 soon, so that needs to be kept in mind when looking at his numbers. He has the worst defensive rating of the regular starters on the roster and would be considered slightly undersized for an NBA PF.
While his numbers are very impressive, the last thing the Wolves need is yet another one-way offensive player that can only play power forward. He'd be 4th in line behind Julius, Naz, and Leonard Miller.

My guy, Enrique Freeman had a heck of a game their last time out (at least by the box score). Of course, it looks like his previous game was a dud…FNG wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 8:26 pmThanks Q...kinda what I thought.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 7:43 pmHe's a G-League vet that will turn 30 soon, so that needs to be kept in mind when looking at his numbers.
