I’m not happy. Why would any of this make someone happy? Enjoy your delusional superiority complex!

Confronting important issues doesn’t mean you have to share every opinion about every matter everywhere. My own views about what’s happening right now in Minneapolis probably align largely with yours, BL, and I express those view to lots of people and in lots of forums. So I’m not silent or hiding behind privilege - whatever that is. What’s happening in Minneapolis is very sad and I have my own strong views about it as I’m sure others on this Board do. But this is a Timberwolves basketball forum and I believe we can stick to basketball on this forum while still expressing our views in countless other venues where our views are far more likely to matter.

Yeah let’s stick to basketball. So the game today should be fun to watch.

To those that screwed this up, I hope you are happy.
I'll tell you what DNat, I'll retitled this thread and you can choose to ignore it, as will I. :)

Keeping real talk in safe places is a good way to not ever effect changes. Its forums like this that resist the change that need to hear it the most.

lol. Certainly no Timberwolves game basketball to discuss today. So this thread will have to wait. But there’s a trade thread that seems to be popular. I might want to take a break — just a few minutes — from thinking about the horrible things happening in Minneapolis later today and discuss some trade possibilities if just for my own mental health. Others might be inclined to do the same. It doesn’t mean we’re not thinking or talking about those horrible things and it certainly doesn’t mean we’re don’t care or have strong views. It just means there is some time in every day, no matter how bad the day, to momentarily distract ourselves and enjoy some of the good things in life.

As for me, I’m not confining my conversations about the bad things to “safe places.” I’ve been talking about the issues in Minneapolis with a lot of folks who disagree with me. But my opinion isn’t so important that everyone everywhere in every venue needs to hear it.

I think it’s important to call out those like Coolbreeze and DNat who seem to be on the side of ICE and probably say stuff like “Don’t Resist” when you know that they .probably used to say stuff like “Don’t Tread on Me”. If we share space with people like that then we make ourselves complicit in our silence.

I've been a member of this community for decades. That ends today. I hope you residents of the once great state continue to enjoy funding Somalia with your tax dollars. In addition, I hope you go out tonight and protest against Immigration officers trying to do their job. Swear at them, spit in their face, light fires, and if you're brave enough brandish a weapon in their direction. FAFO.

To the vast majority of this board who are great fans and people, I will miss you. You know who you are. I hope we get to celebrate a championship in the very near future. I would welcome any of you to reach out by private message and I would be happy to respond. Best wishes to you and your families.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this, BL. “Calling out” people leads nowhere. If we speak out about important matters, we should speak to persuade, not “call out” castigate or demonize. Shouting in someone’s ear invites a return shout and has no impact except to cement the other person’s convictions and perhaps make yourself feel better. I’ve had off-line dialogue with Cool about other things. He’s a reasonable, good person. I’m sure DNat is too. I don’t know exactly what they believe about what’s happening in Minneapolis but I’m confident I could have an honest, but civil, discussion with either one about these recent events. We might even find that we agree more than we would have guessed.

I’ll leave it here and move on to other things.
