Well, you were mostly right! I think the reality is that Ant and Jaden showed enough NBA-caliber skills from the get-go (defense in Jaden's case) and there was plenty of opportunity for playing time with the big league team.kekgeek wrote: ↑Wed Jan 28, 2026 1:22 pmPoor info from me. And as I said earlier, Dillingham DID play in the G-League twice last year and it wasn't clear at all that he was NBA-ready whereas Shannon killed it. He needs to prove that he can shoot, score, pass, and not throw the ball away against fringe NBA competition before getting another opportunity against the real thing.
Back to Shannon..... His absolute trainwreck of a regular season is something I never saw coming. One of those rare cases where may be college, G-League, Summer League, and Preseason success simply doesn't translate to the NBA. A real head-scratcher.

I seem to recall Shannon having some terrific NBA performances in the regular season and playoffs last year.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Wed Jan 28, 2026 2:31 pmWell, you were mostly right! Indeed he did, but perhaps it was one of those honeymoon bursts of production when the opposing team hasn't scouted you and your weaknesses aren't as exposed compared to getting into the grind of being in the regular rotation every game.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 12:30 amI seem to recall Shannon having some terrific NBA performances in the regular season and playoffs last year.
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Might have been some of that. But it’s rarely all one thing or the other. Shannon is very talented and it was his talent that ultimately drove the results in those games he played. And it wasn’t just a couple games. He had a number of very nice performances. I think lack of an off hand and his one-speed game hurt him as opposing teams scout him. But his one speed is very fast and there have been a lot of highly successful fast players who did not have much change of speed in their games. I think his lack of an off hand is his biggest weakness and one he’ll have to work hard to address. I honestly think his biggest problem this season has been his foot, which I suspect has bothered him from the beginning.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 7:02 amIndeed he did, but perhaps it was one of those honeymoon bursts of production when the opposing team hasn't scouted you and your weaknesses aren't as exposed compared to getting into the grind of being in the regular rotation every game.

Rocco continues to do well in the G-League with another two games played on the West coast this weekend.
On the full season, he's played 30 games, averaging 23 minutes, 14 pts, 8.3 rebs, 1 asst, 2 TOs, and 2 blks per game on 53%/37%/79% shooting.
What I like is that they have gradually ramped up his role from coming off the bench as a part-time Center to now starting and playing closer to 30 MPG. He leads the team Net Rating at +6.3.
So while he certainly doesn't dominate out there in the way Luka Garza did for example (who was also 4+ years older than Rocco at the time!), I like the fact that he is putting up decent numbers AND contributing to winning while on the court. Contrast that with Leonard Miller, who at a similar age put up very good box score numbers but had a double digit negative net rating.
My view of Rocco is that his NBA floor is rising. Don't know if his ceiling goes very high, but I'm feeling better about his floor, which might be a Robin Lopez or Mason Plumlee. That's hardly inspiring, but I'm talking about the worst-case scenario.

Hey Q — Substitute Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain for Robin Lopez and Mason Plumlee and then we’re in full agreement on Rocco. It’s exciting to be at the front end of the Rocco era - a real treat for those younger fans who missed the front end of the KG era.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:59 pm Rocco continues to do well in the G-League with another two games played on the West coast this weekend.

Terrance Shannon Jr is cleared for 5 on 5 and will play in Iowa until after the all star break
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Wow, he dominated the last time he went down there for a couple of games. Iowa may be more fun to watch than the NBA Wolves with Shannon and Rocco!
Speaking of Rocco, I watched Iowa's last game where they played only 8 guys due to injuries and illness. Rocco got 30 minutes and more usage than normal. He was OK offensively, but defensively was very slow to challenge shots and rebound. He still needs a lot of work on his conditioning and strength.

Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Good to see him back, hopefully he is a 100% healthy this time coming back. I do wonder what the rotation will look like when he's back on the main team. I don't believe Finch ever DNPCD this season, but Ayo is here now and Bones has claimed a lot of the bench minutes as well. I'm hoping TSJ and Ayo can build some good chemistry together, as both love to push the pace, run in transition, and attack the basket (both proud Illinois products as well).
Re: Iowa Wolves 2025-26
Iowa with the early game today! TSJ starting and basically playing PG as the offense pretty much ran through him on every possession. He played one short stint to start the game and looked bigger, faster, and better than everyone else as you might expect. We'll see how much more he plays.
