Trade season
Re: Trade season
Q, let's assume there is no other deal. Would you trade Randle, Jaden, and TJ for Giannis? While Giannis was out (and calf muscles are tricky), we would probably be starting Rudy, Naz, Clark, Ant and Donte, with a bench of Bones, Mike and Joan. Pretty thin, I think. I'm still not on the Giannis trade train.
Re: Trade season
Well, that's why I think Connelly has to address the guard depth issue - with or without a Giannis deal (unless again a guy like Ryan Rollins is thrown into the deal).FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 12:56 pm Q, let's assume there is no other deal. But if you are saying this would be it - no other moves until the offseason - then I probably wouldn't do it. We'd be way too thin on the guard and wing not just while Giannis is out but when he's available too.
(personally, I think Milwaukee asks for Randle, Jaden, and Beringer).
Re: Trade season
I am not really that high on trading for Giannis. I think he is becoming to big of a risk due to injury concerns. Our team would be depleted on a deal discussed here, and might not even make the PO's (which I still believe is a likely possibility).
I would rather continue to build with guys like Jaden and Beringer.

Re: Trade season
This is where I fall, too (although, I think the playoffs would still be likely). But if TC does pull something off, it sure would make things interesting!mjs34 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 1:10 pm I am not really that high on trading for Giannis. Re: Trade season
I think the Bucks would ask for that too, and I think for almost all of us here, that would be a non-starter. I was just throwing out a deal that more here might be inclined to take, although I still would not.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 1:04 pmWell, that's why I think Connelly has to address the guard depth issue - with or without a Giannis deal (unless again a guy like Ryan Rollins is thrown into the deal).FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 12:56 pm Q, let's assume there is no other deal. Re: Trade season
I’m really torn on the Giannis stuff.
My one concern with the wolves is are they capped as a WCF team. How do they get better. In my opinion we have a 4 year window to win a championship before Ant leaves or his super max is so bad it’s tough to build around him to be a legit contender. Giannnis injury scares me, I mean there is a chance he does not play the rest of the year and does this version of the wolves without Jaden, Randle + more even make the playoffs this year without Giannis.
I don’t know what to do. I love Jaden but not sure he is this elite player that leads us to a championship. I’m loving Beringer and am super high on him but we have seen nothing more than him being just an energy big. (That’s not me complaining it’s more me saying are we overrating him and assuming he will be a star).
If they do trade for Giannis the wolves would have 2 of the top 6 players in the nba, an elite shooter in Donte, a scoring big in Naz and the best defender in the NBA in Rudy. The wolves bench would be Conley, Bones, Dilly, TSJ, ingles, miller, Rocco, freeman, juzang plus the buyout market. This is a bad bench but theoretically could trade for White also.
Interesting spot to be in

Re: Trade season
You take the shot no matter what. These type of deals don't come up often. Jaden is my favorite player but you’re trading for top 5 player in the league.kekgeek wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 1:27 pm I’m really torn on the Giannis stuff.

There will be buyout guys to take one or two bench spots what if guy like Kyle Anderson gets bought out you don't think he would want to come back her and get regular playing time for coach who loves him.
Make the trade figure out the bench later and how the pieces fit. I really don't get board injury prone sentiment being why they wouldnt trade for him.
You've watch this team is capped at wfc level if not worse without NAW. Like Kek says doesn't matter in 4 years when either Ant walks or we can barley afford anyone else. Might as well take the shot.
Re: Trade season
My heart says keep Jaden and Beringer. My head says take Giannis.
Also for the depth issue I still believe the Wolves could put Rob and Lenny in the deal with Ju, Jaden and Joan and get back Giannis, Trent Jr, TP, Sims and Rollins. Rollins might be a sticking point but TC is pretty good with sticking points. Those guys aren't world beaters but quality depth for their salary for guys that aren't depth anyway. The Bucks won't really need or want those guys necessarily after Giannis.

Re: Trade season
I wouldn’t do a deal for Giannis given (1) what we’d have to give up to get him; (2) other potential uses of the assets it would take to get him; and (3) Giannis’ recent difficulty staying healthy. I think his body is older than his age given his size and how he’s played the game. Honestly, I don’t think we have the assets to get him anyway. The Bucks will (and should) want 1st-round draft picks and we have none to offer while other named suitors have a bevy of future picks to put on the table.
If I were in TC’s shoes, I’d still be reticent to do a trade deadline deal. Those deals rarely work out. Moreover, right now it’s a seller’s market. Having said that, if we could land Coby White or Collins Sexton for Randle I’d at least consider it but I’d expect extra in return given Randle’s production and the fact that White and Sexton would be one-year rentals. I’d be all in on trading Conley for Tyus Jones, although there’d have to be other players involved to make the salaries work. Tre Jones would be my ideal deadline acquisition but I don’t think it’s realistic. I believe the Bulls rightly see Tre as a big part of their future.

Re: Trade season
I'm torn on this whole thing.
We need depth.
But setting aside our top 6, we don't really have the assets to get much. Conley's expiring. Dillingham. TSJ. Can we do a pick swap? Nobody is going to see Clark or Miller as anything other than filler. Probably the same for Rocco. It would be really tough to give up Beringer. Setting him aside, we're not going to get much at all with the rest of those guys.
Alternately, we could try to move one of our top 6 guys and get back a PG and another rotation guy. Here, the most logical option would be to try to trade Naz or Randle. They basically play the same position, and it would be better to spend that money on our weakest position right now. Ideally, Dillingham would've become that guy, and we wouldn't have to do this, but that isn't happening. It would really suck to lose either Naz or Randle, and I'm not totally in love with any of the possibilities out there. Both Naz and Randle have pretty good contracts, and you don't want to give that up for a guy who's probably overpaid.
Damn, we really needed one of the Clark, TSJ, or Dillingham triumvirate to pan out, especially after we let NAW go. The fact that ALL of them have basically failed to take a step forward is really killing us. Thank god we pulled Bones out of thin air. Still, if TC doesn't pull off some magic in the next week, we better cross our fingers that Clark, TSJ, or Dillingham step up in the second half, or that Bones and Beringer really solidify their roles as the 7th and 8th guys in the rotation, but that feels like it's asking a lot.
