I'm getting a little skeptical of Sidery Kek....any one of us could have come up with this throwaway speculation. I'm not saying the interest in Giannis isn't real, but this "factor" is pretty unoriginal don't you think?
I agree with you here. The only thing is that it’s being supported by Shams and Windhorst and I trust those 2

Why do the Wolves need to make a splash?

This is the first sustained legit success the franchise has had in 35 years for chrissakes. It's not like it's falling apart. It's not like fans are growing frustrated. It's not like they have to appease the star player.

Agreed. Lazy take.
Kek offers a pretty well thought-out explanation in his earlier post. May be Connelly is convinced that the current team is capped out as a contender.....for the WCF, but not the actual Finals.

Or may be it's all just Connelly being Connelly, constantly networking, probing, and staying connected.

So I am not saying I agree or disagree with this logic but I could see Connelly thinking the wolves are just capped out. This season we are getting a top 5 player in the NBA season out of Ant, going to finish in the top 2 in DPOY Rudy, All star consideration from Randle, Naz the favorite to win 6MOY, Jaden has taken a pretty big leap and is shooting over 40% from 3, a very solid Donte season and with all that the wolves are in that 2 through 7 mix. We are getting fantastic season from our top 6 and we are just ok relative to the rest of the west. Are we capped out. How do we get better, we got a ton of internal development I would say our whole top 6 is better this year than last. We don't really have young players in the pipeline outside of Beringer because DIlly has been a bust so far, Clark is sort of a low ceiling high floor role player and TSJ is old as dirt for a 2nd year player and has struggled mightly in more minutes this year (I will give him some benefit of the doubt because of the foot) but its not like a young player is projected to develop and put us over the top.

So how do we get better in the before the summer of 29 happens where Ant leaves or he gets his super max what makes it hard to build around him in the apron era? One possibility is adding a top 5 player in the NBA, I do think Giannis raises this teams ceiling but also lowers the floor. You are right Q on the Giannis might not even play this year boat but I am not saying this is the goal but if we missed the playoffs it is a great year to be in the lottery because this draft class is loaded. Also if the jazz fall out of the top 8 we do not swap with them (They lose their pick) and the if the Wolves did move up in the lotto the worst pick the wolves could end up with is 8 because of swapping with the Jazz.

I would be sad if Jaden is traded but outside of a coach change (what may or may not work), I am really worried that this team is just capped out because we are getting above average seasons from our top 6 and we are still in the chaos of the West.
I agree to some extent (I do think we can turn it on even more though). However I think a more reliable PG who can get buckets every night would raise our floor. Say Naz is having an off night, we're basically cooked. We got no one who we can count on to pick up the bench scoring. Bones is hit or miss, Conley is what he is, Joan depends on others to feed him, TJ is a huge disappointment play and injury wise this year and Clark is obviously a defender, non scorer.

It's plain as freakin day we need a dependable bucket getter/creator.
Yes, someone that can get us points but also can handle the basketball. It would make us a lot better.
Heck and that guy could be Giannis! However I am still iffy on a Giannis deal. I don't see how offensively he and Rudy can coexist, which then hurts Ant. Also the age and recent injury history. IDK. I still say we'd have to move Rudy either in that deal or a seperate one for a better center who can shoot the 3. Which now how does our defense drop? IDK.

I think it’s a lazy take. With that said last year the wolves were 10th in the NBA in attendance average. This year they are 24th. Now prices have went up, but that is a pretty big drop in attendance. Even though most of those board is happy with sustained success. My more causal friends want Finch fired, Rudy sucks, Randle is trash, we miss Kat, etc.

At the end of the day the wolves are a business and the ownership paid the second apron last year, 1st apron this year and attendance is going down relative to the rest of the league

Yeah, I think Rudy would have to go somewhere as you would not want Giannis and him to try and coexist. Remember when Giannis had Lopez, Brook would be on the perimeter 90% of the time. Rudy can't do that. I think what TC is trying to do is acquire as many #1 picks as he can using NAZ, Julius, and Rudy, and then combine them with Rob, Joan, and Clark in the package to Milwaukee.

LOL!

Here is another snippet from the Kings side regarding Keon Ellis:

Allen Stiles: Sam Amick on @Sactown1140 sounds like Keon’s market faded a little, Kings wanted to make sure they got something - Minnesota was 2 2nds but started focusing on Giannis - Indy didn’t want to give up a 1st while still having Benedict Mathurin - “Boston was in there too but faded”.

There's a lot more than smoke floating around!

Marc stein says The Warriors and the Heat, those are the teams who have the most to offer now in direct trades. Your Minnesota and Knicks, if they really want Giannis it helps them if this drags into summer….. There has been Wolves, Giannis chatter going back to the summer. Based on everything I know, it’s largely sparked by Antetokounmpo’s admiration for Ant Edwards. Giannis is said to be an Anthony Edwards fan and would like to end up with him if he’s leaving Milwaukee… The only way the Wolves can construct a deal now they’re going to have to include Jaden McDaniels. They do not want to trade Jaden McDaniels”

If we get Giannis without dealing Jaden or Ant that would be awesome.

Gary Harris was on my list of sneaky possibilities. But I see he is not out with a hamstring strain. Scratch that one off the list!

I don't get this at all.

Trading for Giannis requires TC to do the two things he's been at best subpar at during his tenure:

1. Hitting in the draft

2. succeeding on the margins. NAW's his #1 success story and he's gone now.
