Good luck to Rob and Leonard. I'm as skeptical about Rob there as I was here because he's just not big enough and I don't think he's good enough, but at least he'll get a chance to get more minutes and give it a shot. Miller was always kind of an interesting player, because when he played, he looked effective. But it was always in garbage time, and usually in transition so you could never really put any stock into it. Clearly the coaching staff didn't see much promise there, and they'd know best. I'm assuming that when they saw him practicing, they just didn't see a guy they could envision playing in the half court because he never got the chance.

As for Ayo, I'm all about this. I loved NAW. I think I'm gonna love Ayo. Similar guys. Love it for us.

Something I've mentioned before, but I think sheds light on the Minott and Miller situations. A couple years ago they were starting in the G-League next to each other in Iowa. I was pretty excited because Miller had already had a year of G-League experience under his belt with the Ignite and showed promise while Minott was this really athletic kid with a high motor. I mean, Connelly found some real gems here didn't he??

They were TERRIBLE together despite putting up decent individuals stats. I think Miller had something like a -12 net rating....in the G-League!

And Drew's garbage time comment rings true because it felt like these guys were fine in open court/chaotic situations, but the second they had to operate within a half court scheme they were at a disadvantage despite their physical gifts.

Onwards....

What's really nice about this move is it doesn't take away anything that was helping us this year, and just injects Ayo on to the team. It's a lot of 2nd round picks for my liking, but we became a better team today. I still feel bad for Jaden and NAZ having to be 3rd and 4th options, but maybe their day will come next year.

Ayo will help a lot. He's a clear rotation player we just didn't have before.

Bones has been up and down, but it's much easier to live with him as an 8th man than as a 7th. I know how silly that might sound, but I think it really is a big difference.

Given the position Ayo plays, I also think this means if we do bring back Mike, he's likely to get fewer minutes at least, which, sadly, is probably good for us.

Then, hopefully between Clark, TSJ, and Beringer, somebody is going to step up.

Donte/Bones
Ant/Ayo
Jaden
Julius/Naz
Rudy

Still, at the end of the day, the guys just need to play better. That's the key. A roster improvement means nothing if we don't also improve our mentality and approach to every game.

I always thought Millers bad D made him unplayable in the NBA. He just looked bad to me on defense despite his size. I never had hope for him to be honest. Minott I had hope for.

NO such thing as a perfect defensive stat. This one certainly has flaws

But opponents are shooting 41.4% when guarded by Ayo Dosunmu this season

That’s better than any number posted by a Wolves player this season

Hey hoop heads. A lot of trades to dissect. But two that really interest me are Ayo Dosunmu going to @Timberwolves
and Jose Alvarado headed to @nyknicks
I love both acquisitions. Will be major contributors.

Ayo was the Bulls guard I was hoping we would get -- definitely closest to a 2-way player than any of the other Bulls guards. And Q's theory of "players forget how to shoot when they put on a Wolves uniform" will be tested. The only reason the Wolves had a shot is because he will be an unrestricted FA entering the offseason. TC is banking on Ayo have good success here for the remainder of the year, and convince him to re-sign before free agency even begins since he is extension eligible. That extension will cost somewhere around the MLE level.

My hope is Ayo works his way into being the first guard off the bench for Donte. I don't believe the transaction is official -- players need to pass their physicals. So, I don't expect to see him in uniform tomorrow. But then we have 3 games in 4 nights leading into the all-star break.

Anxious to see it all play out!

Cool! The Ayo trade doesn't get a whole lot of attention nationally. Nice to see Legler's comments!

I think at the end of the day the Wolves may have valued Freeman about the same as Miller and Freeman is more a big than Miller at this point as well. Freeman can be on a 2 way for another year at least so they might be able to keep him around on that type of a contract while getting a true wing in Phillips. I haven't looked up his physical profile yet. Lip probably has his standing reach sitting in front of him and is just waiting for someone to ask. :)
