He probably doesn't play again this playoffs, but it will give others a chance to really shine and show what they can do in the playoffs and earn their place on the team next year. If it was an acl year long injury, I think that might hurt our chances of re-signing Ayo as he might have looked for something better with Ant out. But with Donte hurt for the year, Ayo is guaranteed a starting spot next season, which should help re-sign him.
I have no doubt that the #1 priority for the Wolves this summer should and will be re-signing Ayo. Based on TC’s track record, I expect they’ll get him re-signed. I’ve said from the beginning that the Ayo deal would be a good one only of we re-sign him. Now I’ll say it’s a GREAT deal if we re-sign him and I’m confident we will. They should get an injury exception for Donte to help stay under the 2nd apron although they might need to trade Randle for some more space, although I think trading Randle makes sense for other reasons.
He is a better player overall than Naz. By a descent amount too. Zero reason he won't get more than 5 for 125 like Naz got. I would assume 5 for 150.

5 for 150 is almost Randle money.

Donte might return for next season ala Jason Tatum so I'm not sure they get an injury exception and even if they did I don't think that helps with where you are in relation to the Apron/s but I'd like to hear otherwise.

I'm fine starting Conley in the first and third quarters. But after each opening stint, how many minutes he plays thereafter is very situational to me. If we have a solid lead, give him a second stint to help preserve it. If the game is close or especially if we need to mount a comeback, then I'm not so sure he's the right guy to have out there.

In 36 minutes through four games against Denver he has 8 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 turnover, and 6 fouls. He did re-discover his 3-point shot in April going back to the regular season games, so I am feeling better about his ability to make open 3's.
Q you pretty much nailed it. Conley has been pretty good in this series. We shouldn't be asking too much from him (or Kyle Anderson) but in the right doses and in the situation they can be more than helpful. TSJ is the new x-factor. Hopefully he can be a positive.
Yup. Shannon gives you a ceiling that Conley (and Bones for that matter) can't reach. He also gives you a floor that is lower than those two, thus the X-Factor label is totally appropriate. But assuming we get past Denver (not a done deal yet - they beat the Clippers after going down 3-1 a few years ago), I see zero chance of us getting past the Spurs much less OKC without getting the ball in the hands of TJ at the top of the floor for significant reps. He may prove disastrous, but without Ant he is one of the few perimeter players we have that can break open the offense with his forays to the rim and kickouts. Plus Ayo needs all the help he can get!
I think we're getting a healthy dose of Shannon in this series... as soon as tonight.

The Wolves want to use their athleticism and get to the rim. Well... that's Shannon's game. I'm thinking they had a gameplan with a limited role for Shannon in Game 4. And then when Ayo went off, they didn't Shannon's burst nearly as much.

But Ayo is not going to remain THAT hot. The Wolves are going to need another player to get buckets, so I bet we see Shannon given that opportunity. Will/can he take advantage?

I wouldn't overpay Ayo, like Barkley said on the postgame show he's probably still a role player (I think Barkley is right for once). Now he's going to be targeted by Denvers defense and game planned for. They saw he can hurt them and he's going to get starter coverage (again bad Denver defense but still).

I think he is still a backup to my eyes, I think against better defenses he's going to come up short like he has in the past. You start paying role players starter money and all of a sudden you can never reach the the ultimate goal. I think we can fill that role more cheaply if need be, rather then paying him 25 mill a year or whatever.

I'm more interested in looking to explore a higher end PG or ball handler. Still Giannis intrigues me as well as Kyrie. Either one could elevate our team, depending of course on what we give up.

Now saying that, if the contract we can get Ayo for is reasonable then of course. Do it. If you can resign him and trade for Kyrie to start, I think that would be ideal.

I think we might have overpaid Naz by a bit and should have kept NAW instead. I really think Ayo's lack of high end athleticism and craftiness makes him at best a long term backup. He's going to struggle against the better defenses and especially if he's starting long term.

Just because you made one mistake don't make another. Keep him at the right price for sure though. I kind of feel like the NBA does view him more like I think, so he won't get crazy money.

Wasnt there a report that Giannis claims to have never recovered from this injury? Its worth Ant taking his time to fully heal. I think this whole thing is actually kind of a blessing. If we crash out it was a nice effort and we maybe get Ayo on a discount, if we continue to win it means other players like Jaden and Ayo are continuing to a huge leap and Ant comes back in his timeline and whatever we get from his is gravy. I think either way we can start to see a longer term vision of this team with Ant, Jaden, Ayo and Naz as a core.

Chris Finch sounded pretty confident with .@PAOnTheMic that Anthony Edwards could during these playoffs:

"We do know that if we keep extending this playoff series, he is going to come back. And he generally comes back ahead of the timeline."

When are we going to accept that their defense is complete trash?
There is no focusing and loading up on him that actually works for them, none

Of course Ayo isn't gonna score 43 again, but did we forget that he 25 and 9 assist in game 3?

I agree that it still remains to be seen to just what level Ayo can really get to, cause he's not gonna be going against pillow soft defense the rest of the way. I do disagree however that his ceiling is just as a backup.

He feels like poor mans OG to me-- excellent role player who can scale his game in the right spots or when you need him to.

Also hes not gonna be the focal point of the offense in this game or any others. For better or worse it'll be Randle
