Meanwhile what other guard Perimeter player are you sitting for Hyland to get minutes? TSJ should probably be playing more and it looks like Ayo is rounded back into shape at least. Hyland kinda struggled a little and Conley has played well on the offensive end which is where Bones can help. Heck Anderson has barely got off the bench either which I don't disagree with.

At times the Wolves have needed scoring but in some of these games they needed to play better defensively. Hyland isn't gonna give you that. Can the Wolves find a way to defend in this game? To some extent this end of the floor is the place Randle has largely brought it all things considered.

To some extent I think we are forgetting how much we are missing Donte in this series. Having a guy that can just absolutely jack up a 3 from anywhere and quickly while being able to handle the ball a decent amount and do all kinds of other shit is a big deal. Other than Naz and Edwards I'm not sure I would worry too much about leaving anyone else open from 3 that much. Ayo is a threat but he typically isn't a high volume guy from there.
I haven't forgotten about Donte. It's such a disadvantage missing a key cog out of the starting lineup. Not only does it suck now, but he'll miss most, if not all, of next season, which is his contract year. TC's offseason work got a lot more interesting with Donte's absence.
Yeah. Donte only having one more year on his deal was always something I had on my mind but now...idk what you do with him. It's not like you are gonna get a lot for him in a trade not that I want to deal him but he was always an asset that could have been dealt for value. Maybe now they will be able to bring him back longer term...but that's months away from being decided.

If his absence has shown anything then you still probably need to do all you can to resign Donte. He is a winner of the highest order. The kind of guy this team seems to completely lack without a healthy playoff Ant as well.

Donte will be like getting a great trade deadline addition next year for nothing. Keep him or even extend him in the meantime.

The playoffs - especially after the first round - separate the post-season wheat from the regular season chaff, that's for sure. He was still a valuable regular season contributor off the bench and that counts for something, especially at his salary.

I find it interesting that nearly EVERY year we come into the season feeling really good about our bench and how deep we are. And then in nearly EVERY playoffs, we have at best 7 to 8 playable guys by the time we get deep into the post-season and even then the guys off the bench may struggle (e.g. Naz in prior post-seasons).
I think this happens to just about every team.
But not the ones we seem to lose to...OKC went 9-10 deep against us in last year's WCF and the Spurs are doing the same. We seemingly get down to 8 and it's a shaky 8 at that.

Detroit is playing like a team that is not ready for Cancun. Can the Wolves match that effort and intensity?
