I missed your post earlier, but Ju started the year on fire. Through like 2 months he was shooting insanely well playing All Star level and was a huge reason we were actually a tp tier offense to start the season.
That player still exists in there. I do think that him being named in so many trade offers, the bad play of his then combined with the fan scrutiny basically tanked his season. I was an idiot thinking he could bounce back, like in the previous years stretch.
I think I already posted this... maybe even in this thread? It was a significant drop.
Pre All Star Game:
22.3 ppg / 7 reb / 5.4 apg / 49 / 33 / 82 shooting splits.
Post All Star Game:
18.1 ppg / 6.1 reb / 4.2 apg / 45 / 28 / 75 shooting

There's a lot of unknowns heading into this offseason. But moving off of Julius Randle seems to be about as known of an unknown there is! And he seems to understand this as well as anyone.

It seems highly likely that Julius will be moved this offseason. It is kind of too bad since he seems like a really good dude and his family seems to have really taken to the Twin Cities but his place on the team has become toxic among fans and possibly his teammates.
The bigger question to me is who wants him and what would be coming back. He would probably have to be salary filler in a Giannis trade but it seems like Giannis or maybe Kyrie would need to force their way to Minnesota to make Julius a principle in the deal. Jaden and/or Naz probably go out in those deals.
These seem more realistic to me:
Julius for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. Not sure what the Hawks actually think of JK but they are pretty deficient for bigs. Neither guy moves the needle for the Wolves, I think.
Julius for Nic Claxton and maybe another salary. The Nets need to raise their floor for next season, although being bottom 3 when you don't own your pick isn't a terrible option anymore. Julius can do enough to help them win some more games.Claxton would provide some needed energy in the Wolves front court.
Julius for Patrick Williams and Jalen Smith. The Bulls would probably do it to dump Williams. Jalen Smith is the piece that would be worthwhile for the Wolves.
Julius (and Donte) for Ja. This could be a dead end trade for both teams when the market for Julius and Ja don't go anywhere.
Julius for Jalen Green?
Julius and Donte for DeRozan and Monk. I think DDR would be nice off the bench and Monk could take over DDV spot. This would be probably need to be a 3 team trade sending Sabonis elsewhere which seems plausible.
I don't see much else out there.
I want to bump this one. I know on its face those deals look depressing and they must be if everyone passed them by. Are people expecting better for trading Julius? I actually think the Ja trade feels most accurate.
Well, yeah, your trade proposals were DEPRESSING!!
You didn't take into account various 3-team trades, where some of the players you listed above may fit other teams better than the Wolves, and then the other team has a player that does fit the Wolves.
I think there is real smoke in regards to Kyrie Irving. Heck, a straight up trade with Dallas might work without including a 3rd team. But here is a question: Is Kyrie worth losing both Julius and Shannon?

I felt like if you go even shorter, like the first two months he was even better. He progressively got worse from then to the end of the playoffs till he simply wanted to be traded and go home.

Talent wise Kyrie is worth it, but our D gets worse and how many games does Kyrie miss in a season?
Can the wolves even make the PO's if he misses his 30 games, and does that mean Ant has to pick up the slack again wearing him down?

This is where the wolves need to be considerate about trades. The group they have now has largely been healthy. That can always change but guys like Giannis and Kyrie routinely miss time and those guys will cost the team depth. TC's job is to thread the needle of talent and depth.

I totally get that our D gets worse, but the thing with SA and OKC is their elite defense. You have to score against them with elite talent. Bully ball and physicality don't work, as we've seen with Ju and Rudy being very meh to poor against them specifically.
It might be a long shot that a Kyrie trade helps to get us over the hump beating both them, but I really don't know if any one else possibly could that we could realistically get. I almost think Kyrie would be better then Giannis because of the 3 ball. I think Wemby could do a number on Giannis and his drives, and he's not as quick as he was 5 years ago.
I pretty much think you have to go all in on the 3P to beat these guys. All 5 guys shooting it well and spacing out the bigs. Just hope you can knock down enough to win, like Boston did a few years ago. Lots of offense, just enough defense too.

I'm just not convinced this is the only answer. I don't currently have a different answer, but I'm sure that professional coaching staffs can work out more than just "just shoot and pray y'all"

Ok in real time I just watched Alex bleeping Curuso do some nasty shit on offense to Wemby and the 3 ball had nothing to do with it

Caruso may be one of the greatest role players of all time. FNG would melt into a puddle of amazement if he were to go look at his career net rating and on/off rating . Let's just say he's the anti-LaVine...
That being said, he has relied HEAVILY on the 3-ball against Wemby. I thought it was a good strategy by the Spurs to let him take those shots so that Wemby can stay in the paint, but cap-tip to him, he's been making them.
