The latest hot coaching prospect is Sean Sweeney who is credited as the Spurs defensive genius and Wemby loves him. Sweeney was a key assistant on both the Spurs and the Mavs when both teams eliminated the Wolves. He's 20 years younger than Finch, a native Minnesotan and excels at player development. Wolves need to hire this guy. Finch has done what he can and he's come up short. A new voice, an innovative voice is needed and a guy that knows how to develop and play young guys (which is probably what I hate about Finch the most).

Replace Finch with Sean Sweeney
Re: Replace Finch with Sean Sweeney
If Finch was let go, he would have been top of my list. My guess is Dallas is a likely spot for him with Kidd moving on.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 9:22 pm The latest hot coaching prospect is Sean Sweeney who is credited as the Spurs defensive genius and Wemby loves him. I saw Maverick fans were talking about hiring either Sweeney or Nori on their reddit page.

Without Randle... we're going to get a full run of "Fire Finch Now" around here, huh?

Re: Replace Finch with Sean Sweeney
It feels like Sweeney has been a head coach possibility for years now and he hasn't gotten his shot. It's been a little surprising since it seems like he has been fairly highly regarded as an assistant.
I remember Adrian Griffen was kinda this type of sure thing to an NBA head coach and he didn't even last a season. I did not see that coming. I'm a fan of Sweeney and always liked Griffen as a player so I'm cheering for both guys to succeed but just sayin.

Almost had him! Guess we will be stuck with the best coach in franchise history for another year, what a bummer!

Yeah, but also the worst franchise NBA history. Being the best of the worst! Yippee!BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2026 7:02 pm Almost had him! Guess we will be stuck with the best coach in franchise history for another year, what a bummer!
You know, maybe we're not the worst anymore. I would say pre-Ant, it's was a sure thing. Now maybe we're 2nd or 3rd worst?
IDK what ya think?

I think Finch has the third most wins by an NBA coach in the last 5 years.

You mean Ant/Rudy? Certainly you don't credit Finch that much, and I do think he's an above avg coach. But cmon, an elite coach probably has us in the Finals.BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 5:54 pm I think Finch has the third most wins by an NBA coach in the last 5 years.
