I’ll be pulling for the Knicks for many of the same reasons as Abe. I’ve always liked KAT. I used to sit across the aisle from his dad, who was a super nice guy. Like Abe, I’m not a big fan of teams built around bigs. Unlike Abe, I actually like Brunson. He’s one of those overachievers I admire in professional sports.

I’ll add that I admire the way the Knicks organization has built their current team. I typically prefer teams that build primarily through the draft and I believe history shows that’s the best approach for all but a couple true destination franchises. Nevertheless, what I admire about the Knicks is that they didn’t really go big-game hunting for aging former MVP-caliber guys. Instead, they went after and acquired really good vets in their prime — all about the same age. Instead of trading for Durant, Harden or Irving, they went for Brunson, Anunoby, Bridges, Hart and KAT. What they did was smart and strategic - understanding that one former MVP candidate in his early to mid 30s is unlikely to get you anything other than disappointment and a lack of tradable assets.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid the Spurs will win this series. Mostly, I hope it’s a fun series and goes seven games. :)

Yeah.

I'm not ready for basketball to end.

[Note: It's becoming more and more popular for fans and pundits around the league to reduce the number of games. I don't understand this. There's no guarantee that fewer games = better games. It's human nature after all to coast at times regardless. Meanwhile, I'd have fewer nights to watch my favorite sport on television. Sounds like a losing scenario for true NBA fans.]

Brunson doesn't flop like Shai but he is definitely a free throw grifter/drifter. Purposefully drifting into players to get a chance to go to the line. I despise any players that seek out fouls and need free throws to try to win. To me it is in the same category as being a liar. You should be avoiding players at all costs while trying to get shots off.

This is where Ant is almost too skilled for his own good. His footwork and ambidexterity allows him to avoid contact and get shots off around the rim. It's sometimes breathtaking to watch some of the layups he pulls off, like a drive from the right slot and a Euro-step with a left handed finish on the other side of the rim....stuff like that.

Ant deserves props for "ethical" basketball, as he's about as clean as any superstar in this regard. But it does hurt his ability to get to the line more often.
