The trade that's come to mind the last couple days was last offseason's deal where the Clippers Traded Norman Powell to add John Collins. Wouldn't it be neat to get a player like Powell back for Randle? That was a 3 team trade with Utah taking back Anderson and Love and getting a 2nd round pick. That sounds optimistic but you never know what movement might happen to make a team have a different need than what they have now. Part of why that deal was done was the a clippers were able to add Beal so moving Powell for a PF made some sense. I remember at some point Powell was considered a bad contract. Is there someone the Wolves can trade for and end up getting a good player like Powell?
He has been discussed a few times but one guy I want to fit into this is Quickly but he is getting paid a lot and unless he has gotten bigger since drafted is undersized. How much better is he than what the Wolves got from Hyland last season? No doubt I'd take Quickly but even if Bones gets a decent chunk of money Quickly is gonna be paid at least 20 million more a year.
Regardless I'm hoping that Connelly is opportunistic this off-season and finds something creative to improve/reconfigure the roster.

Both Powell and Collins are free agents this summer, I'm not sure if either can be had in sign and trades of Randle. I believe it would hard cap us at the first apron if we went that route which could cause a money crunch. But say the Heat want Giannis, while I'd rather get Davion Mitchell from them, you could work out a sign and trade of Powell with Randle going to Milwaukee or a 4th team. I can't imagine Collins would cost more than the tax payer mle around the same amount Ayo should get.Monster wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 9:43 am The trade that's come to mind the last couple days was last offseason's deal where the Clippers Traded Norman Powell to add John Collins. On a PG/ball handling needy team like us Bones didn't even play much. He had some nice games for sure, but too frequently inconsistent. I think he'll take whatever he can get at this point. The small, little defense, spotty offensive gunners are not that in demand in todays game. Maybe thats disrespctful, but IDK.Monster wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 9:43 am The trade that's come to mind the last couple days was last offseason's deal where the Clippers Traded Norman Powell to add John Collins. Re: Which deal(s) do you like best
I’m hoping the same, Monster. Tim Connelly came here with a reputation for having a high draft acumen, but his performance in that department has been poor. Yet, he’s been surprisingly good in the trade department with the Mike Conley and Ayo deals in particular. A lazy or mediocre NBA executive would be prone to make a hale Mary type move with much greater odds of total failure than success. All of us can come up with various moves of that type the Wolves could pursue this summer. But an elite executive would make a strategic, surgical move or two with a good chance of materially improving the team - the sort of moves that none of us would come up with. That’s what I want to see from Mr. Connelly.Monster wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 9:43 am The trade that's come to mind the last couple days was last offseason's deal where the Clippers Traded Norman Powell to add John Collins. Let’s all send out positive thought vibes to TC to help him make that sort of move.

Re: Which deal(s) do you like best
I hadn't really thought much about Trey Murphy, but his name came up on Dane Moore's pod --- Kyle seems very keyed into him --- so I'll throw it to the group here.
I don't know much about him. Profiles as a good shooter and defender, although statically he hasn't actually been that great there.
I definitely like the idea of putting shooters around Ant and just kinda running things that way

It's not clear to me why he'd be made available and what asset we'd have to offer to go get him. He's sort of in that Quickley category of a real solid, mid-tier player that would be a good fit, but not sure if he's for sale.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 4:51 pm I hadn't really thought much about Trey Murphy, but his name came up on Dane Moore's pod --- Kyle seems very keyed into him --- so I'll throw it to the group here.

Re: Which deal(s) do you like best
Of course if you're trying to reverse the trade TC made (a deal that, to be fair, led to us getting to the conference championship game in which we lost to clearly the best team in the Association), the deal would be Ju, Donte and a mid first round pick for KAT. Halfway through this season when Ju and Donte were thriving and KAT was being maligned by the media and the Knicks fans, the Knicks might have jumped at that trade...not now though with KAT's late season resurgence.
BUT...there are rumors that Ju, Donte and 2 (probably late first round picks) could net us Kyrie Irving. KAT's reputation was not very good here after the Dallas series, and I think that almost everyone here would have loved a straight up KAT for Kyrie trade 2 years ago. If an Irving trade happens, I think TC will be praised here for both the KAT trade and eventually getting Kyrie.
