I was just going by the poll results.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2026 5:07 pmI think it's unfair to say this board is not opining for Kyrie. Basically everyone but this board is all in on him, which is strange. Some say he's too expensive, that we can't even get him. But IDK about that. There is risk there, but there is also a very likely scenario he is exactly what we are missing. An elite ball handler and scorer to take the doubles off of Ant.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2026 3:42 pm
Realistically, you’re getting roughly 50 good regular season games. And the Kyrie you’re getting will likely be at a level below the Kyrie of his prime because of both his age and his ACL surgery. Just reinforcing your point, Aussie, that it strains credulity to suggest that acquiring Kyrie is the best move globally. If I were TC, Kyrie would not be on my list. The only star I’d have on my list is Giannis and I’d certainly kick the tires on possible deals to get him. But I also wouldn’t get obsessed with acquiring him. I’d be focused like a laser on other trade targets likes Jrue Holiday, Jalen Suggs, Derrick White and Davion Mitchell - along with some others on Q’s PG list.
I would say as a whole, the avg fan has Kyrie one, Kawhi two, Zion probably 3 and GIannis 4 simply because we have to probably gut our roster to get him.
If TC does manage to get Kyrie, it will be pretty popular with most of the board, any most of those squeaky wheels will get on board after a few days...![]()
I think we have to realistically go down two types of paths.
The keep Rudy path or trade Rudy path.
In the keep Rudy path we're going to need another elite dynamic playmaker who can help get Rudy the ball, and B take doubles off of Ant by being a huge scoring threat themself. Both of which a Kyrie can do obviously well. You keep Rudy and trade for a role player or players types and I see no way our offense is dynamic enough to take on OKC and SA.
So option B is trade Rudy and Ju for "Role player" types. Get a stretch 5 who can play some defense, and now everything will be Ant centric. Everyone on offense can shoot the 3 and beating OKC and SA by bombing 3P's all game is a real threat.
I suppose option B could include a Kyrie or Kawhi also for sure, maybe that's option C. Trade Rudy and Ju and still get aging superstar I don't see in the keep Rudy path where staying Ant centric with Rudy gives us enough offense to beat those elite defenses. It's been a big problem the last two playoff runs. I just don't see how that changes with both those squads young and getting better.
