Bobby Marks said the Wolves are considered the favorite to get Fox. He’s got a YouTube video up about it. I’ll have to check it out later.

[Edit: Never mind! The Wolves were not mentioned once in the clip. ]

Wolves Twitter posted pictures of Shannon working out at Target Center yesterday. One picture has him working on his right hand. Today they got Naz Reid pictures working out at Target Center. Joan and Rocco have been here all summer doing 5 hours a day workouts together. Donte was posted last week working out at Target Center. It seems like a lot of the guys are still in town working hard this off season. Gone are the Jeff Teague days when players left Minnesota the minute the season was done.

Fox’s contract year-by-year salary breakdown

2026-27: $49,500,000 to $51,033,600

*2027-28: $53,460,000 to $55,116,288

*2028-29: $57,420,000 to $59,198,976

*2029-30: $61,380,000 to $63,281,664 *

Fox’s contract alone makes trading for him an incredibly dumb idea and essentially untenable. He’s a very good but not great PG without 3-point range on his shot. He’s going to make almost $20 million more than Randle next season. Let the Spurs bear the weight of his ridiculous contract.

I said he was out of the Wolves budget the minute he signed that deal, however, if the Spurs gave the Wolves assets they could help move him for another big move down the line. Trading for Fox straight up with no assets coming with him is 100% untenable.

I think the strengths of Fox and where he likes to operate and shoot from would be better used here (than San Antonio) playing off of Ants double teams and gravity. But at that price no thank you. If he he made the same as Randle sign me up. Some of the spots Fox likes to get to can be replicated with Ayo if the Wolves build the offense around that and have that as their gameplan.

Yep I fall for that click bait youtube videos sometimes. If it's a ESPN looking video but on a random youtuber and not the official ESPN youtube page I usually just assume it's a fake headline to get clicks.

If that contract started at like 40 million maybe but the length is a problem too.

Fox is headed for being discussed for years about where he is gonna end up going etc. He is making the money anyways but still maybe it would be better to make less and not be ripped by fans because your contract is way more than your value on the court. On the other hand let's say he was paid 10 million less a year...he would be easier to trade and could be even easier to move if the Spurs simply didn't need him anymore. Might as well just take the money.

Meanwhile avoiding long term contracts that are an issue is a pretty big deal for an NBA team's front office. Connelly has done a solid job in this regard. Let's hope he continues to walk the line or even better.

Fox would be nice on the wolves but everytime I look, there's just no way to justify the money and length of that contract.
I'm not sure how well his game will age either without a 3pt shot. It would be going to far to say its built solely on athleticism, but he has heavily relied on being one of the fastest players and that is already diminishing. To his credit, he's crafty enough and has added things to his game to offset it, but with no reliable 3pt shot, at this point, his offensive threat will not age super well.

No touchy Tim

Where there's smoke...

We saw Giddey's name mentioned in connection with the Wolves. A trade starting with Randle for Giddey and adding in whatever is necessary would be okay in book! (might involve Donte, Williams, Shannon and/or picks)

McCollum has signed a 1-year, 21 mil extension with the Hawks. This comes after the Suns sign extensions with Gillespie for 4 years at 48 mil and Goodwin for 3 years at 19 mil.

Does this start setting the market for Ayo? And will it help lead to an extension before free agency begins?
