Pre-Draft Trades GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

And we have our first trade going down. And it ain't Giannis!

Shams Charania

The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to send guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks for two second-round picks (Atlanta's in 2030 and the least favorable of Hawks/Lakers in 2032), sources tell ESPN.

Means OKC will probably use at least one of their draft picks, and will less likely be a team we use to trade up into the draft if we like Philon or someone else.

Would you trade pick 28 and our 2033 1st with some protections for pick 17 to nab a PG in this draft?

Not necessarily Philon either. And while i like him ALOT more than Dilly during his pre draft process, it is concerning why T.C. likes these uber tiny PG's.

I don't think I would categorize Philon as Uber tiny for a PG.

I don't think I would do that deal to trade up but I really don't know the prospects well enough to want to do that which may or may not be good. If you get a good player that would likely be a solid value though especially if the draft really does drop off in talent at 20 something. I'm always skeptical about that though. There is plenty of talent these days throughout the draft although obviously the percentages do dwindle.

I think a move like that needs to be part of a bigger deal where TC is accomplishing another one of his goals for the roster (i.e. moving off Randle).

I personally wouldn't offer the 2033 first unless moving up into the lottery ala the Rob trade. I'm not sure TC would be gun shy to try that again.

Agreed if we could get a pick in the 5th-7th range and grab either Wagler or Acuff than I don't even care what this team looks like in 2033.

Ok but based on player grading, ahead of Rishacer who was pick 1 i would have all of: (in no particular order)

Peterson
Boozer
Dybantsa
Wilson
Acuff
Flemings
Brown Jr

Once you get to: Burries, Philon and Carr, imo you are now splitting hairs on same tier talent as Risacher. Risacher was on of tbe worst number 1's to ever come out. I am talking pre draft. Not what we have seen after one season. Castle is who i would have taken in that draft #1.

My point being i don't think we could do a Dilly level trade in this draft. The prospects in top 10 are valued way more than that weak Dilly draft was. Spurs took their guy in Castle and then took us to the cleaners.
