Apparently he has a push shot/floater that's fun and hard to block. He sounds a little like a bigger less athletic and maybe a little more savvy Craig Smith. Hollinger seemed to not hate the pick and called it a G-league dart throw.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2026 9:52 pm I like it if he can be a good defender, but it sounds like that wouldn't be the case so idk.
I love smart bigs who can playmake and be a connector, and so does Finch lol.
Older drafted too so he has an NBA build
Draft Night Thread - Second Round

Re: Draft Night Thread - Second Round
Watching some highlights of Evans one thing that kinda jumped out to me was he floats out on the perimeter like how he moves. It looks like he has good footwork and really does all his moves to get to his spot and then his feet are under him to take the shot. I'll be interested to watch a couple games and see what my take is after that.

He is basically a taller Malik Beasley imo. His shot is as fast as Dontes.
Re: Draft Night Thread - Second Round
When I watched a few videos on Evans, I swear I was looking at a taller version of Bones!
Re: Draft Night Thread - Second Round
I think Boners is a much better ball-handler and passer. Otherwise, I see the physical similarity. Watching more Evans video reminded me why I listed him as the top choice for our second round pick. He can shoot with a super quickly release and terrific elevation. He also moves well without the ball. I’m fine with the pick.
Re: Draft Night Thread - Second Round
Yeah he might be a notch above but the point is neither player fills the stated needs of the team so why roster them both?Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2026 11:16 pmI think Boners is a much better ball-handler and passer. And don't call him Boners.

This team very .much needs shooting. In theory both of these players provide it.Phenom wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2026 11:29 pmYeah he might be a notch above but the point is neither player fills the stated needs of the team so why roster them both?Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2026 11:16 pmI think Boners is a much better ball-handler and passer. The Wolves may make a move that makes keeping a player like Hyland less worthwhile but if you look at various FAs that aren't guys that will get the full mid-level he starts to look interesting. He is a volume 3 point shooter and is still somewhat young. He has played plenty of regular season basketball and has done so on teams that have reached the playoffs so he isn't just playing on tanking teams etc. He isn't a true PG but he is a pretty good ball handler and can make long distance shots. He will likely resign for cheap. I know a lot of us would like Tyus to come back here but (this is speculation) I get the sense that's not going to happen. Bones has a legit chance to improve and then what might that look like? I'm not pounding the table for him to return but honestly I think it makes sense. Evans and Hyland both offer 3 point shooting but in different packages of players. One is more of a ball handler shot creator and the other is a much taller movement 3 point shooting wing.

Kaufman-renn looks a lot better than the espn blurb. Looks super comfortable and quick with decisions in the post. He has a lot of post moves and distributes as well as he finishes from the paint. He seems like a high drive player and I can see him being the type of connector the wolves are missing on the 2nd unit if slomo isn’t brought back. Seems like the succession plan for the bench is to replace bones and slomo with these two drafted kids at some point? Kaufman is a senior and looks ready for nba body and size wise. We didn’t draft for hype and potential, but got some kids who look like they fit needs. Still need ball handling and a defensive big body imo

Some good interesting tidbits, especially after the chaos this morning lol. Hopefully he turns into another 2nd round success story.BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 6:58 am Kaufman-renn looks a lot better than the espn blurb. Re: Draft Night Thread - Second Round
I just watched the Big 10 Championship game and he put in some work in that game. What stood out pretty quickly is he is physical boxing out all the time pushing people around and played like a freaking ox. He had a couple moves to the basket he absolutely trucked and went right through the Michigan bigs that went in the first round. That floater goes out to like 15 feet. Based on watching this game is he the fastest or jump higher than 2 phone books? No but he is strong tough and also had a few post moves where he made those Michigan bigs look silly. In the first half he actually scored on both of them right at the basket. He moves better than I thought he would although I'm sure he isn't gonna be locking down good guard or anything. This roster has nobody like him. I have no idea if an undersized guy like him can make it but this game made me think hell that's an interesting pick. Idk if Summer league will be a good place for him to look good or not but he also looks like a guy that if some much smaller player is on him near the basket he is gonna pulverize them.TheGrey08 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 11:46 amSome good interesting tidbits, especially after the chaos this morning lol.
