Lynx talk
Re: Lynx talk
They got the win against a good team. My question is whether they are gonna get locked in on D going into the playoffs. I think the bench comes in and plays solid but there some lack of scoring punch there. It would be nice to see someone get going there. I thought Dorka would give them more. She is getting up the 3's at a pretty high volume so if she can start hitting them that would help. Regardless it's a still a pretty good top 6 players.

Just because he's a complete POS and deserves this (and keeps putting himself into the public space)... let's recap "what we know" about the attention-seeking POS Royce White:kekgeek wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2026 4:53 pmRoyce is a year older than me. Entirely unrelated to this stunt...
... he seems like a very terrible person. And there's about 20 years of evidence to support that take.
But then again: White/Collier/McBride/Williams/Miles sounds like a championship team to me![]()
But I had two high school teammates that played AAU with Royce. They told a story that he got kicked out of De lasalle because he didn’t wear his school uniform so a teacher told him to go to the principal office and he said “bitch do you know who I am, I am De lasalle”
Fantastic Basketball player but terrible human. I love they are doing this because they want to protect women but Royce has a no contact with his wife for beating her and their son.
Also are we sure Royce would be good he can’t play away games because he can’t fly. Haha.
I know they are doing it as a joke but 0.0% him and Enes get drafted. A year ago a player named Sedona Prince was projected mid/late first round pick but she had multiple past domestic abuse charges and went undrafted.
WNBA has done a good job keeping “good” people in the WNBA
- Kicked out of DeLaSalle for "cheating on an exam." Other reports, collaborated by kegeek here, go a bit deeper and cite "behavioral and and academic issues." It's clear that it was NOT about cheating on only one test. Obviously.
- Goes to the Gophers. But before he can play a game... he steals a laptop. Then, steals clothes from the Mall Of America. Then, he attacks the security guard who caught him stealing.
- White quits the Gophers... but starts a lifelong habit of blaming others for his own errors... by citing "safety concerns with campus police" as part of the reason for him leaving.
- White then starts his lifelong habit of looking for his next grift. After a couple of weird YouTube videos about the legal issues at Minnesota, White makes one claiming that he's "quitting basketball to pursue music." LOL.
- White changes his mind (duh!) and joins Iowa State. He actually does quite well there... and Fred Hoiberg probably does pretty well hiding White's on-campus shenanigans, too. It's here where White's fear of flying becomes an issue. But White makes 20 flights with the team. White gets drafted in the NBA.
- White's flying issues become an issue in the NBA... before he needs to take a flight or even begin the season. But hey... NBA contracts are guaranteed so...
- Eventually after a series of starts and stops and trades and bemoaning how the NBA treats sensitive people with mental health disorders... White takes his money and quits the NBA.
- To write a book and join the world of MMA fighting! He quits after one MMA match.
- I'm going to skip over the twists and turns of White's political career because... well because it opens up a lot that will take us off script. Anyway...
- White has four children along the way. He has faced multiple court actions and accrued over $100,000 in unpaid back child support obligations.
- There's a protective order against Royce White after finding him liable for physical abuse and threats against his ex-wife and their teenage son. He can't contact his son for 2 years and his ex for 50 years.
- White used at least $157k in campaign funds for visits to strip clubs, resorts, clothing, and more.
- I might be missing some stuff. BUT... there are a few themes in Royce White's life:
1. He says or does something bad.
2. Then, he denies it.
3. Then, he blames someone else for it.
4. Then, he turns his attention or pursuit or passion elsewhere.
5. The cycle starts anew.
I don't care if you're a Democrat or Republican, a socialist or a Trumper... the life of Royce White transcends politics, culture warfare and everything else.
The guy is a bad human being. And a POS.
Re: Lynx talk
Abe I think you laid it out well. I remember when White was going through the whole will I won't I be willing to fly and be an NBA player or whatever and I defended him to some extent. In hindsight idk if he is the guy you want speaking on anything the but fact that he talked about mental health at the time may have moved that conversation forward in terms of NBA players. I think it's pretty clear White has some legit mental health concerns. What they actually are I'm far from qualified to know. From what I remember the guy literally turn down millions of dollars for some sort of reasons.AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 9:21 amJust because he's a complete POS and deserves this (and keeps putting himself into the public space)... let's recap "what we know" about the attention-seeking POS Royce White:kekgeek wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2026 4:53 pmRoyce is a year older than me. Ok I looked at his Wikipedia page. He didn't even play 1 NBA game with Houston. The only NBA game he ever played was 3 with the Kings on a 10 day contract. Look maybe Houston had a bunch of jerks or whatever in the front office but sometimes people lose sight of the fact that sports teams want to win games and want talented players etc. they were pretty invested in him succeeding and they couldn't make it work. I wonder if Royce took a boat to play in Europe. I mean once he was there he probably wouldn't need to fly much if any but yeah.
Meanwhile I'm sure someone here knows about how good that food at the strip club in Florida! Lol

On the other hand I didn't extend the grace to Kevin Love that he deserved when he was here. A good (late) friend of mine who was closely related to the Wolves during Love's tenure told me he was such a bad guy nobody in the organization liked him except for Flip and the equipment manager. And since his uncle (Mike Love of the Beach Boys) is such a horrible person, I concluded that the apple didn't fall too far from the tree and intensely disliked him (like his teammates). But later when he went public with his depression issues, my impression of him totally changed. Now he's one of the guys in the Association I like and admire most! The lesson for me is not to judge someone before I have enough details. I think we do with Royce though, and his issues seem to go far beyond his fear of flying.
Re: Lynx talk
I remember you mentioning this about Love and thought it was odd. I liked Love and while I obviously had no insider info he didn't seem like a guy that was so universally unlikeable. He seemed a bit goofy (in a good way and also had many aspects of his game of a guy you would want to play with. I think it's also worth noting that much of his early time with the Wolves was an absolute disaster. No vets terrible coaching etc etc. Now it's become clear he is one of the guys that's a vet teams would like to have. He didn't just jump when he got to Utah he seemed ok with having a role there with the young guys. You never know what players are gonna end up like that Westbrook wanted no part of that and that's ok. Meanwhile Vince carter was a former star player that decided to be willing to be a role player and mentor. I saw a stat today that he is the only player to have played in 4 different decades. Obviously a lot of that is just timing but still you never know what a person will turn out to do. Some players it's not a surprise when they become coaches and some it's like wait what? Maybe this isn't the most surprising one but I don't think I would have guessed Rod Strickland would be one a college head coach.FNG wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 7:30 pmMonster, I agree that Abe has summarized well all of White's public transgressions, and there is likely much more that we don't know about. I met Kevin Love and his dad a couple days after he was drafted. They were at the bar at Target Center (can’t remember the name of it) with Kevin McHale having beers. I was with a friend and we went up to say hello. Kevin Love’s dad invited us to join them. I recall really liking his dad - super upbeat, always smiling and really excited for his son. I also recall McHale telling us that Love was the best rebounder and had the strongest hands in the draft. He told us they never intended to keep OJ Mayo and only drafted him when they knew they could flip Mayo for Love.Monster wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 8:26 pmI remember you mentioning this about Love and thought it was odd. As a longtime Beach Boys aficionado (I still have Pet Sounds in my top 5 albums of all time...tell me I'm wrong), I know way too much about Kevin's dad Stan and his uncle Mike Love...two world class a-holes. It's another reason I admire Kevin Love for the adversity he had to overcome coming from such a dysfunctional family. I think Stan became his cousin Brian Wilson's bodyguard after his basketball career was over, and (surprise, surprise) it didn't go very well at all. I suspect many of us have some degree of dysfunction in our families of origin, but nothing to the level Kevin had to endure.

Huge win for the Lynx. Beating 2 seed GS. Olivia was amazing but she did roll her ankle again. There is an international break coming up, so good time to heal up. Dorka beats her girlfriend and gave her best minutes of the year. Then Court, Phee, McBride and Howard all filled in the gaps.

I could only watch the first half and the Lynx looked great. They don't have any trouble getting up for these big road games. It's a relief they don't play anymore bottom dwellers this season.kekgeek wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 11:39 pm Huge win for the Lynx. Beating 2 seed GS. Didn't see this one, but for those who did, how did we hold GS to only 66 points? I know they are primarily a defensive low-scoring team, but 66 is far below their average. Did we play really good defense, or did the Vals just miss a lot of open shots?
