I don’t disagree with anything you say. The better Beringer plays the better leverage the wolves have when they talk extension. What is huge long term when we talk about bringing players like Donte or Kuminga back if they fit inFNG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2026 6:51 pmThat would be terrific, kek, but Joan has a long ways to go on defense and the defensive boards before he's ready to start. Meanwhile, Rudy takes care of his body and doesn't look any older to me than he did when we got him from Utah! I think we're lucky to have Rudy locked up for 2 years (assuming he exercises his option) while Joan learns how to play defense. Meanwhile I think you may be documenting again how our defense drops off in the non-Rudy minutes!

It's a good point because Rudy is the one big salary we have that could be moved or adjusted to make room for Kuminga (assuming he works out) and DDV.kekgeek wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2026 10:12 pmI don’t disagree with anything you say. A little tid-bit on Joan.....He was tied for the best offensive rating on the team last season with Ant and was second only to Zyon Pullin on the G-League squad in the same stat (he played 11 games for Iowa last year). We saw it in action the other night where he had 12 points in 15 minutes playing against legit NBA bigs in Milwaukee.
It's obviously a somewhat scattered and small sample size, but so far in his young career his impact on offense has been extremely positive and you can already see how his hands and coordination around the rim make him a much more reliable target than Rudy. Defensively though.....he's got a looooong ways to go, but has all the right tools.
Re: DAZN?!? Wolves at Bucks Preseason GDT
I don't think any of us would have predicted his offense would be ahead of his defense at this point...he does look much improved on offense! But I'm trying to figure out why his offensive rebounding is so much better than his defensive rebounding. He seems to have a much better feel for where the ball is going on an offensive miss than a defensive miss...his instincts on the offensive boards are excellent, but not on the defensive boards. Some players just seem to have a knack for knowing where the ball is going to be (think Dennis Rodman)...Joan in contrast looks lost and disoriented on the defensive boards. His size, athleticism and offensive rebounding tells me he is going to figure it out on the defensive boards, but Monday night was not very encouraging.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2026 7:20 amIt's a good point because Rudy is the one big salary we have that could be moved or adjusted to make room for Kuminga (assuming he works out) and DDV.kekgeek wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2026 10:12 pmI don’t disagree with anything you say. The Wolves need to work on team rebounding concepts. Clark is really good at boxing his man out...Joan, not so much. Rudy creates poor boxing out habits on the defensive side because he is an elite rebounder. Those non-Rudy minutes need to have a focus on boxing out first, then get out in transition. Hell, with as fast as they are playing now, they could afford to keep all 5 back to secure the ball before a breakout. If I was Finch, I would do rebounding drills for half of the next 2 weeks worth of practices to drill that into the collective muscle memory. Tough to play great defense for an entire possession, just to give up a bunny on a rebound. Make that defensive intensity count for something!FNG wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2026 7:48 amI don't think any of us would have predicted his offense would be ahead of his defense at this point...he does look much improved on offense! Re: DAZN?!? Wolves at Bucks Preseason GDT
The Joan rebounding mystery is similar with Rudy's hands....Rudy often secures defensive rebounds with authority, often times in traffic. But if it's on the offensive end, he has to slap it out as if he has one hand tied behind his back (which is still fine I guess) or he makes some awkward attempt to secure it with both hands only for it to get poked away. Why is it any different?FNG wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2026 7:48 amI don't think any of us would have predicted his offense would be ahead of his defense at this point...he does look much improved on offense! As for Joan, I think his offensive rebounding has more to do with sheer hustle and want-to than some sixth sense of where the ball is going. Those same traits may work against him defensively, where it's all about positioning, not jumping too early, holding your ground, etc. He certainly has the frame to keep developing "grown man strength" as he gets older.

I thought DAZN (DaaaahZnnnn) was a dumb name when I first saw it in print.
Then, I saw the commercial for DAZN (DaZone). And I felt dumb.
But also liked the dumb first name more than I thought. LOL.

I am in the same boat! And after I heard the correct pronunciation, all that comes to mind is Norm Peterson...AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 9:13 am I thought DAZN (DaaaahZnnnn) was a dumb name when I first saw it in print.
