Around the NBA 2026-27
This might be the first time I've seen a backup Center take over a game playing his normal role as a backup (as opposed to starting in place of an injured starter). Andre Drummond for the Knicks with an absolutely dominant 12+ minute stretch in the first half.

10/11/3 in his 14 minutes after KAT picked up 2 very KAT-like fouls in the first 3 minutes! Drummond still has some game at 33.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2026 7:05 pm This might be the first time I've seen a backup Center take over a game playing his normal role as a backup (as opposed to starting in place of an injured starter). The most noticeable thing is all the whining and complaining is back in full force.

Hate to say it, and it's early, but the 6ers thing might work.

Let's see how Lebron and Embiid hold up over 82 games.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2026 8:46 pm Hate to say it, and it's early, but the 6ers thing might work.

I think it will if LeBron and Joel agree this team belongs to Brown and Maxey and are satisfied with playing supporting roles. I'm actually more worried about Joel's ego getting in the way than LeBron's. I like that LeBron took only the 4th most shots last night while contributing 9 rebounds and 7 assists (and only 1 turnover)...that is exactly what they need from him. I don't think they need to be too worried about Embiid's health either...Bona will fit just fine with the rest of the starters. I think they are going to be a force in the East.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2026 8:46 pm Hate to say it, and it's early, but the 6ers thing might work.

Meanwhile OKC looks better than ever. Not sure there is any amount of magic Connelly can pull off to equal that team's sheer level of depth and defensive cohesiveness. Presti has built a multi-season juggernaut that only injuries can derail in my opinion.FNG wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2026 8:57 amI think it will if LeBron and Joel agree this team belongs to Brown and Maxey and are satisfied with playing supporting roles. Yeah, they looked really good last night. And SGA needed only 4 free throw attempts to get his 32 points. Aday Mara looked very good in preseason and adds another big to their roster. Wemby really struggled with their length last night.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2026 9:27 amMeanwhile OKC looks better than ever. OKC really wanted that game after losing both the season and playoff series to them. Long term there is still money concerns being so far over the 2nd apron next year. Going to be hard to keep it all together, especially if McCain keeps shooting like that. AJ Mitchell had a bad game, but he was really good last year especially in the Lakers playoff series, so he may also be hard to keep long term.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2026 9:27 amMeanwhile OKC looks better than ever. OKC is huge.
7'0" Hartenstein. 7'1" Holmgren. 7'2" Mada.
Go get 'em, Rudy!
[Note: I think it shows who they think remains their biggest rival in upcoming years. By the way, has Wembanyama already reached the point where people are worried about criticizing him? I think we saw some of that last year when he was acting the fool in the playoffs. The 7'7" soon-to-be MVP shot 1 - 13 fg last night.]
