This season will be determined by injuries. The most positive prognostications need Ball to have the healthiest season of his career. And then there's Gobert. He takes such good care of himself, so he's been able to give 70+ games every season. The Wolves really really really need that to continue.

The frontcourt depth is a very real concern... although I think TJ Shannon is just biding time here until he's traded for a serviceable backup big.

Ouch...43-39? But I agree that this team will struggle more than deeper teams if we have significant injuries to key players. And if Abe's gloomy forecast ends up being correct, I'll pair a prediction with it...the Wolves will move Gobert to a contender for draft capital at the trade deadline if we are close to .500. Do I think Joan is ready to be the starting center? Certainly not. I expect him to be limited to about 14 minutes per game with Rudy getting the other 34. And he will develop getting a consistent 14 a night (or more on nights that are a blowout one way or another). But if we are struggling mid-season, I see TC declaring it a "gap year" and unloading Rudy (and maybe a surplus wing like Ayo, TJ or Donte) for as much return as he can get. We then get the added benefit of Joan getting 30+ minutes a night which will accelerate his development. Of course I hope this doesn't happen, as I think this roster can challenge for a chip if all are mostly healthy, while still developing Joan in steady but limited minutes.

P.S. Avid Price is Right viewers will see the error in Abe's logic, as the rules of the show say you are disqualified from winning if your guess is over the actual amount. Abe's only chance of winning as things stand now is if the Wolves win 43 or 44 games...more than that and somebody else wins, and fewer than that and nobody wins and the keychain is added to next year's winner's prize. But of course we don't play Price is Right rules.

Not sure if this is too late. I'll take 42 with a first round loss. I think we are due as a team to suffer our share of injuries, and don't see this team being able to cover with our lack of depth.

Yes. I realized my fatal flaw post-post.

So... I guess I'll have to change it to...

1 - 81. Right-price that, FNG!

Hahaha, now you're doing it right, Abe...Bill Cullen is no longer rolling over in his grave. I'm curious about the one win you're predicting though. Maybe the home game on March 31 against the Kings?

The window is CLOSED. Sorry to see the likes of Rap, Jester, Lip, Monster among others missing from this list, but oh well, too late now! All the more likely us mere mortals might win the tchotchkes I scraped up out of the Midwest Volleyball supply closet!

The guys that guessed north of the Vegas line are off to a good start! I know Miami has it's issues, but still...didn't expect us to blow them out on their home floor tonight. Nice start.

Somewhere in the toney suburbs of Philadelphia, a man is peacefully sleeping...unaware of the controversy he is going to wake up to Friday morning. A former prediction champion has made his entry, but at first glance it appears that his mail-in ballot may have arrived after the stated deadline. We were all hoping to focus our attention on the night game against the Magic, but this controversy may capture our attention and disrupt the day. So many questions.

-Will Q be lenient in his ruling, given the status of Lipoli as a senior member of the board and former champion?
-Will Q be intimidated, fearing that Lip may bring in his close friend Rocco to "convince" him to allow Lip's entry?
-And if he chooses leniency, will Crazysauce sue, saying that he is the rightful owner of the 58 win line?
-And if Q rejects the entry, will Lip bring in the Michigan timekeeper in the Western Michigan game to demonstrate his entry actually arrived 2 seconds before the tipoff of the Miami game.

Stay tuned...
