Im hearing some podcasters seemingly jumping on the Kyler train. Saying we should consider resigning him at 40-50 million per year!
I dont get that at all. I think we have two ways where I bring him back. We win the SB with him. The goal after all and if you cant do it with a dominant defense this season, what will make you think he'll win it any other year? THIS IS THE YEAR!!!
Now one scenario could be he plays great and either the defense fails or injuries of a significant magnitude occur. Which OK, Kyler plays great and the team lets him down. I doubt that happens though.
We can get his production from any number of backup type of QB's. You dont pay a low end starting QB top end money, that would be a major blunder.
We'll see how it plays out. Oh and Kyler typically gets hurt often too, just another reason not to pay him significant money.
Low end starter money, OK maybe. I still think you do need a upper echelon QB to win a SB.
Whats the goal here anyways?
Kyler
Re: Kyler
With his injury history, that should keep that number down. I could see paying him a little more than Darnold got (we have to see this season play out but assuming Murray is reasonably successful) to keep a good QB in the build sure. The one factor to consider with Murray is I'm pretty sure they aren't in line to get a comp pick if he leaves. I would guess that was definitely a factor in letting Darnold walk.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2026 9:29 am Im hearing some podcasters seemingly jumping on the Kyler train. The other question will be and we are months away from this but what teams are gonna be in the market for a starter? Will it be a deep QB class? Which teams that need a QB will want Murray and which teams would he want to go to? It only takes one other team to want him to drive up the price. The people talking about this are paid to do so. There isn't enough evidence to say they should keep him for almost any price or let him leave. We just need to let this play out. It wasn't that many days ago some people were talking about Murray sucked and KOC was on the hot seat and Flores should be the Vikings coach.
Also what other options are available for the Vikings in the off-season? Will there be another Murray Darnold Daniel Jones type available? Will there be a draftable guy they could get later in the first? Will the earth get hit by a meteor and the 2027 (and maybe 2028) season gets canceled? Murray could have a major injury and not be healthy by the start of next season. Let's just let things play out. Try to enjoy the ride and also who cares what most of those folks say anyways.

I guess I bring it up because we're a long shot to win the SB at 10th best team odds at 20-1. Heck the Bears who we beat at their place are 14-1 AND they have two more losses!!!!Monster wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2026 11:56 amWith his injury history, that should keep that number down. What do the bettors know? Our offense hasn't shown to be SB caliber and they are right. Even with the best defense/special teams in the NFL.
I'm hoping for the best, but I can't ignore the reality of the situation. I want to win a SB. Not just be a good team. Heck I'd rather be terrible then good. Then maybe we get that franchise QB (we might of even let the one walk right out the door). That would be extra Vikings if that came true.

Re: Kyler
Chase Daniels did a film breakdown of JJ on youtube and essentially concluded he was awesome. The INT was on the WR for running a bad route even. It'll be a serious WTF if he turns out to be good. I would have never traded him for a 5tyh round pick, that was just idiotic. I imagine KOC and JJ were not on the same page (kind of obvious), but then who is to blame for that? KOC acted like a clown last year, as I discussed too much in previous posts. Playcalling and off the field.Monster wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2026 7:17 amWhat franchise guy did we might have let walk out the door?Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2026 6:47 pmI guess I bring it up because we're a long shot to win the SB at 10th best team odds at 20-1. I've yet to watch a video where Chase Daniels says someone sucks. Might want to watch his last video on Kyler Murray.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2026 12:39 pmChase Daniels did a film breakdown of JJ on youtube and essentially concluded he was awesome. Look I think there is a chance McCarthy is a good QB but a franchise guy? There aren't many of those guys. Who was the last reclamation project guy that became a true franchise guy? Kurt Warner? Was he a franchise guy? I was thinking Brett Favre but that was a weird situation and there may have been someone since then. Hell at this point I'm not sure some guys are franchise guys including a guy not long ago was considered one in Herbert.

Re: Kyler
Steve Young is another. But your right it's probably a long shot he becomes a HOFer or "franchise guy" or even good starter (above avg). But at a 5th round pick value, it wasn't worth giving that up. It was a great shot for NYG to take, they also have a potentially fun season to watch too, rather then watching Winston. Just those two things makes it a no brainer.Monster wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 5:14 pmI've yet to watch a video where Chase Daniels says someone sucks. I thought we should have gotten a 3rd rounder in the end and I still would have a hard time trading him for that. QB's are just so valuable and a 5th rounder is probably even a longer shot to become a player that contributes anything in the future.
