Meanwhile, two guys Monster has championed this year (Grossman and Mauer) are doing it again...nice to see the team bounce back with the tying runs after Mejia gives up 2 in the top of the first. This is another big series, and I'd love to see them win the first one.

How many games is Lewis batting average based on?

I can't find detailed stats, just summaries. I like the 4 homers and 25 SBs though...nice combination of power and speed.

I found the answer...

"Last season at JSerra, he hit .388 with 12 home runs and 25 stolen bases in 80 at-bats."

https://www.google.com/amp/www.latimes.com/sports/mlb/la-sp-mlb-draft-20170612-story,amp.html

That's like...um...some pretty good production for 80 ABs right?

It would be if it were accurate, but I think it might be a misprint...every other report I have seen says 4 homers, not 12. Still not bad, but puzzling that he would go first.

Edit: Monster, we need to get to the bottom on this one...big difference between 12 and 4 homers! The StarTrib repeated the info you posted last night, but I've also seen sources that have him at 4 HRs. While I really want him to have 12 HRs, here's why I think it's more likely to be 4:

1) If he batted .377 in 80 at bats, that would give him about 30 hits for the season. 12 HRs would mean he homered on 40% of his hits, which would make him one of the most prodigious sluggers of all time.

2) I've seen some video of him on line, and I've only seen him hitting doubles and singles. If he really was homering on 40% of his hits, you would think some of his HRs would be online.

Let's keep looking into this. If he hit 12 HRs, I'd be more inclined to be on board with this pick.

My sources say Rooker to go play in Cedar Rapids immediately going to play LF/1B he's being compared to Pat Burrel if you guys remember him.

Honestly I didn't even note the HR difference when I posted that. Oops. Lol Even 25 steals in 80 ABs would be pretty insane that would make you look at a guy as a pretty good prospect. :) Did you see the video of him jacking a HR in a game at Wrigley?

It would be great if we have Mauer and Dozier replacements coming out of this draft. Sounds like it is a good chance we do.

Any pitchers you like that we drafted?

So I had lunch with my good friend who's pretty connected with the twins Here's everything I've learned from the draft.

The Twins have had Lewis slotted for about a month and has always been the consensus pick for about 2 month amongst management.

McKay was asking for the full 7 mil signing bonus which made him not an option for the Twins

Kyle Wright has been off there board for 3 months because They didn't like his pitching delivery and health concerns. Something in there medical made him a no no at #1 my friend couldn't tell me and I have no idea what it's either from scouting.

Hunter Greene has been off there board for awhile now as well because of him wanting max money and as I have said before him having really bad breaking stuff.

The Twins think that Lewis will stick at SS and that he has same body type as a Correa and A-rod but needs to grow into it.

The money they saved on Lewis was used on Blayne Enlow who was one of the top high school arms in the draft and is projected as a high end starter. This extra money they were able to give Enlow he will now not go to LSU but sign with the twins as 76th pick for about 2 million dollars. This same type of deal the Astros did when they signed McCluers and Correa in the same draft.

Management also believes Rooker could be fast tracked to the bigs they're very high on him.

I don't understand the baseball draft very well but shouldn't we be furious? I was hearing this Mckay kid was a new Babe Ruth and then Kyle Wright was the other option, did we just take the 5th or so best prospect #1 is that normal?

McKay isn't Babe Ruth but will probably turn out to be a good player. The twins were able to sign 4 potential key players instead of 2 by picking Lewis at one. Baseball is a little different your allowed so much to give for a signing bonus to all there picks. The Twins were able to save a million on Lewis and they were able to sign a young stud HS pitcher who some people have a top 5 arm in this draft and give him 2mil instead of 1 and stop him from going to college at LSU and re-enter the draft a year later. So I would say no you shouldn't be mad at this draft and tbh a lot of this is crapshoot baseball is hardest sport to predict because there are so many different variables that can effect a player
