Rank the Vikings problem on Offense

Post by bleedspeed »

Rank in order what you see as the problem.

1. Norv Turner system
2. Offensive Line play
3. Teddy Bridgewater's play
4. Other

I put them in no particular order. Thoughts?

1. Offensive line play - This has been a problem for a long time, I'd like to see us make a move similar to what we did with Hutch and spend some real money on a proven vet for the line
2. Other - Size on the outside - we still don't have a wideout to go up and get the ball, Diggs had a great year but he plays above his size. Rudolph is a great security blanket. I think we need a big target on the outside to bail Teddy out on 3rd down every once and a while. Similar to how Favre used Sidney Rice
3. Bridgewater - His release still makes me scared, but he makes some big throws. I really want to see him have more time before making a real judgement about him
4. Norv Turner's system - Norv played to our strengths and made us a playoff team with a god awful line, I have no problem with Turner.

Watching the Vikings on offense is sort of like watching the Wolves on offense.

Think of it this way... relying so much on Adrian Peterson's legs is like building an NBA offense on jump shooters from 20 - 22 feet.

Great point on a big receiver.

I think if we improve the offensive line it will make the biggest difference. A big WR would be a big plus for us since I see us need route guys more than deep threats.

I agree with this, except I liken it to a low post-centric offense (think Al Jefferson), where you are sort of forced to play a certain way on offense because of his presence. It ends up being a blessing and a curse.

If the oline was improved Rudolph could be part of the answer in that regard. He was magically healthy all year but spent a ton of time blocking especially helping Clemmings who they seemed to have to protect like a newborn puppy.
