Norv on a short leash? How about Kalil, and to a certain degree, Zimmer?

I am not going to rehash Kalil's shortcomings. As it stands now, he will be the Vikes highest paid player next year. Does that make sense?

As far as Zimmer, this Parcells Junior schtick gets older by the week. With the possible exception of Thurman Munson, there is no more overrated sports figure of my lifetime. The Giants would have won that first Super Bowl with Ray Perkins as coach if he wouldn't have foolishly tried to replace Bear Bryant at Alabama, and they never get a chance at the second if Roger Craig doesn't fumble, so there's no need to even mention Scott Norwood's miss.

The person Zimmer really needed in his life is Belichek. He has his faults, and you can even argue he has broken enough rules to be banned from the league. But Tony Gonzales tells a great story from the Pro Bowl that he played in when NE lost to IND who eventually beat CHI in the SB: The QB threw an INT in walk-thru and ran by Gonzales on the runback. Gonzales barely made an effort. Belichek walked up to him and whispers "You call that an effing tackle". Gonzales then played on special teams an really hit the PR on a practice punt. Belichek walks up to him and whispers "Now thats how you tackle". Gonzales said it was one of his favorite memories from pro football.

Meanwhile, what would Parcells, and maybe Zimmmer, do? Call a press conference to bitch about him? Wouldn't surprise me.

There are seriously talent issues on the offensive side of the ball, especially the OLine, and they don't use there talent to the best of its ability. I mention CP as a RB, but I haven't even mentioned the most obvious: What about PUNTS? Or is Zimmer going to try to convince me that's to complicated too?

But, hey Khans, I guess the good news is that you are as good at figuring out the NFL as you are at figuring out the NBA and MLB.

The fact that you're attacking Zimmer after he won the division in his second year as coach here tells me all I need to know about your football knowledge. The guy took the 31st scoring defense and made it top 5 in two years. But you think he's a shitty coach. Come on.

On your idea that CP should be returning punts it's not that simple. Kluwe has pointed out a number of times that catching punts is not an easy task. He said Harvin was never good at it and he said Harvin was obviously a terrific talent.

Zimmer is the most overrated guy you can think of? That's honestly strange. Are you saying Zimmer is soft? I am confused what that interesting story has anything to do with Zimmer.

I think Zimmer is the real deal. He is serious about changing the offense. Most coaches in his position wouldn't do jack because they don't have heat on them. They have had a successful season and nobody is looking over his shoulder telling him this is not acceptable. I like the moves he is making. It will be interesting how he handles the personalities since he has hired a group of coaches who have more time being a HC then he has. I think if Turner blocks out Shurmur's input he won't stick around.

Pat Shurmur will coach tight ends for the Vikings, while tight ends coach Kevin Stefanski replaces Kirby Wilson as the running backs coach.

I could have done a better job with the pronouns, but I meant Parcells not Zimmer. Punts are definitely harder to catch than throws and kicks from a tee, and maybe CP can't do PR's, but I don't think constant-self-promoting-former-punter Chris Kluwe promoting punts is enough to scare me off. I really don't like Kluwe. His job was to punt, and he was paid well to do it, and yet couldn't pull himself away from Twitter long enough to improve at it.

Zimmer is my favorite non-Grant/Green coach, and he is doing a great job coaching the high draft picks on defense, as we knew he would. And there were injuries on the O-line, and Kalil is a huge disappointment, but at some point, you have to stop doing the Parcells thing of whining in the media and coach/scheme what you have. I saw every snap on Sunday ticket, and for the most part, I honestly don't know what TB could have done differently, except for maybe not throwing lefthanded ever again.
