Starting a thread for camp.

Lost Laodholdt and Harris so far. Can't really afford to lose anyone else on the OL

Peterson has a bad hammy

Patterson banged up.

Love this quote about Zimmerman.

"He said I'm going to hate him at the end of the day but love him at the end of my career." - Laquon Treadwell

I did think after reading it what about your young CB's we drafted at the top of the draft the last to years.

Good thread Bleed I have been following it there just is only so much to say. "Everyone looks great!!!" It pretty much the theme the first couple days in camp.

I liked this article. We knew Hunter was a guy that had a chance to take a step forward. I actually thought he had a solid chance to contribute last year because he was actually productive in college but he outperformed my expectation especially rushing the passer which was part of the knock on him. He is another athletic freak for the coaching staff to continue to mold.

Edmund Robinson (first o had to look up his draft profile to remember which athletic LB he was) seems like another very interesting freak project. His draft profile calls him all arms and legs but the guy is 6'2" and 245. That's still a pretty large human. Combined that with a 4.6 40 time and he did a lot of coverage type things in college and he is pretty interesting. At worst I bet he will be terrific on coverage units and the Vikings were very good last year. Because the Vikings get a lot of athletes especially on defense that's part of the reason they are good there. Robinson if he makes the roster will continue to help with that. I like his defensive potential as well especially if Zimmer talks him up unprompted.

Kearse is exciting he is a legit talent and because Zimmer has gotten a tall safety to become good there is some legit optimism of him being a good player. Another physical freak that seems to like football. Notice a theme here? Zimmer and Speilman love these types and seem to have had success with a few. You aren't going to hit on all of them.

I am excited we landed Kearse. I was ready to take him as high as second. I can't believe he fell to us. I think the defense is going to make another leap this year. It is so talented and deep. I think the key is Joseph though. I would like to get another big DT next year in the draft. I think we missed out this year because that was a strong point in this draft.

Sounds like things are good at WR for us. Diggs, Johnson, and Treadwell look good. I have not heard much about Boone on the OL. The center competition is interesting. I wonder if it would be wise to give Berger more reps at RG to see if he can win that spot at make the line better. Any word on Smith? I heard Clemmings is greatly improved.

The names that keep coming up as training camp standouts so far are Waynes (very good news after his poor rookie year), Charlie Johnson (must have been more hurt last year than we knew) and Eric Kendricks (huge sophomore year coming?). Also lots of optimism about the offensive line. Kalil is health and along with Boone, we may have the two of the meanest offensive linemen in the league...that's a very good thing.

On the negative side, while there are lots of positive tweets when Teddy connects on a long pass, I get the feeling he isn't having as good a camp as the coaches were hoping for. That concerns me. This team is loaded, but they may only go as far as the QB can take them.

Teddy took them pretty far last year and he wasn't super great. I'll take solid improvement. He doesn't need to b the next Big thing for this team to be really good right now.

We already have a big defensive tackle for depth in Shamar Stephen. The coaching staff has basically raved about him and he certainly played well his rookie year. Hopefully he is healthy and improved. Joseph, Floyd, johnson and Stephen combined with other guys moving inside at time on passing downs could be a pretty good group at DT. If Elllis makes the team as a 5th tackle he is plenty solid also as a 5th tackle.

Having said all that I remember hearing someone (I think it was a coach) talk about college football recruiting on the local station that you can never have enough big guys that can really run. Quality DTs are pretty valuable it never hurts to try and find another one.

Monster - Good stuff on Stephen. I just saw some names in the draft I thought would have been nice additions. I remember looking back at the draft and it was pretty solid job by us on second look. It will be interesting how many players stick. This team is pretty stocked. I don't expect the kids from Germany to make the 53 man roster for sure.

LB seems to be crazy deep after free agents and drafting of Brothers. I will be curious if Beavers makes the cut, but with Harris and Loadholdt out that increased his chances a ton. Any insight on Stephen Weatherly?

The O-line is stocked with young talent. Which guys are worthwhile and which aren't? It seems they liked Shepard last year they used him in short yardage situations and I like all the other guys but tough to predict anything. On the local radio here Sirles shared that some vet teammates told him that the team traded something to get him so that's vote of confidence. There probably is some truth to that but obviously if someone is better they will take his job.

LB has been stocked with talent of one kind or another on this team but now it's like we actually have some top end talent finally. Cole is a nice depth guy and I like Brothers heck I like all the guys.

Other than the guys we know does anyone have comments on CB depth? I haven't looked into it yet but doesn't seem like much after the top guys.

Weatherly is just another one of these athletes that the coaching staff get to work with. I don't go crazy for 40 times but a guy that's 6-4 near 270 that runs a 4.6 is worth being interested in. Just seeing him without pads in the minicamp he looks pretty big probably can easily get stronger. It seems from what I read on him he is a little raw and lacks disciplined in his technique. If the coaching staff can clean that up he has plenty of physical ability to make plays. It seems like he is an interesting dude in a good way.
