And so the US Bank years begin

Post by bleedspeed »

Anyone else thinking this team will struggle indoors?
[list]
[*] The defense will take a step back as it benefited from the weather.
[*] AP won't be as big of factor because teams won't be challenged by the weather to throw.
[*] Teddy won't be able to air it out with the other QB's in the league.
[*] When we go to play out doors we will be at a soft.

Look like Teddy did ok I'm his new stadium. :) I iove how he continues to show his ability to make athletic plays despite people oddly not thinking he has that ability...still.

The new stadium is very impressive. The windows make you feel like your outside...everything changes when the sun goes behind the clouds. Lots of glitches...massive food lines, ran out of some food, couldn't find where the down and YTG scoreboards were or even the score! But those things will all be fixed, and Vikings fans will have a world class experience.

As for Teddy, he was very good. Having more time makes all the difference in the world for him (well, for most QBs) and he had time yesterday. His arm strength may be below average, but his accuracy is among the best I think...made two terrific passes down the field to Rudolph.

Several starters didn't play yesterday, but the team still looked very good.

Good showing yesterday, but I still have my concerns moving back inside as a team in the North. I think playing outside gave us leg up and helped us playing at Green Bay and Chicago. I just think the game plays differently on turf vs grass. Indoor vs outdoor.

As artificial surface technology continues to improve we will likely see more of it outdoors as well. Green Bay has had some mixed in with their turf for years.

This isn't the same as a lot of the old dome stadiums like the metronome where the turf was just a magic carpet ride. The difference between the natural turf and the real deal is less. I don't really remember a playoff game where I thought the Vikings had a significant disadvantage because of them playing inside. Zimmerman and Spiean have put together a pretty well balanced roster of athletes that are both fast and powerful and therefor able to play in various conditions.

My Uncle who is a Packers fan always says how he thinks the Vikings should play outside like the good old days with Bud Grant etc. I don't disagree to a certain extent but I think this stadium is better than a compromise based on the pics videos etc. it also feels like a more useful facility than an open stadium as it can be used for more events.

It is more the wind, temps, humidity, etc. It is just different and certainly more pass/kicker friendly.

Glad they had a good showing. I won't see anything but highlights until the games count at this point. I hope Clemmings plays the rest of the preseason at LT to get reps in. I like Berger at Center. If someone gets hurt Sullivan can slide in for him and he can shift where needed. i would love to see another young OL step up.

Still a little worried about DT depth. I think we should have grabbed one from the loaded class this year.

There are advantages to playing in an indoor stadium too.

OL is a concern and at this point th biggest one on the team by far.

On DL Trattou that guy just keeps hanging around. It seems he just can play. I hope Floyd can stay healthy I really like the guy. If he can't that could cause some problems if Shamar isn't legit but I have no evidence during his NFL career that he isn't. The Vikings have done a pretty good job of finding worthwhile DT while Zimmer has been here. I'm not that worried.

I just think we missed out on a great DT class and could have benefitted from it. OL will be interesting. Boone is a leader on this team and I hope they can be a mid pack unit and we should be much improved on offense.

With their defense they're a playoff team, with a remotely serviceable O-line they're a championship contender! So many positives from yesterday's game, I'm excited for the season to get underway!
