Wow, sounds like grand theft larceny to me! I don't think the Dolphins will be very good this year, so that 3rd rounder next year will be a better pick than the 3rd rounder we gave up...and then we get a 6th and a 4th in addition! Miami must have really wanted that Ruttgers WR (BTW, that draft guru that Barreiro had on the air last week loved that WR).

I see on Twitter Speilman says they see Alexander as a nickle guy that can flex outside. I can't remember the article but it pointed out the percentage of time teams play with a nickel corner has gone up quite a bit the last couple seasons. Basically a good nickle corner is almost a starter.

Regarding that pathetically slow 40 time I know one former Viking scrub receiver ran a 4.63, I hardly remember the guy, Chris Carter I believe was his name.

I was going to say that as well and also Jerry Rice ran 4.71. Plus the Vikings think his speed will improve the further away from the injury he gets.

Yeah, I love this pick. Teams passed on him because of his height and no interceptions, but the ball was never thrown his way. And the kid is confident. Check out this interview...many said it was the best one at the combine.

DAMN, talk about a Zimmer type. He's ready to GO! haha that interview is enough to get anyone a little pumped for the coming season.

Monster. Don't get me wrong depth is a great thing. And when you can add the ability to play two positions is even better. I do think that Alexander's size plays better at the safety position for the Vikings. This along with his physical play and cover skills will match up with Smith perfectly.

We have the ability to have a shut-down secondary that can grow together.

"Coach Mike Zimmer said at the NFL Combine that the Vikings were looking for another playmaker to allow the standout Smith some more freedom and acknowledged he wasn't sure if that player was on the roster."

Why is a 5'10" safety better than a 5'10" corner?

Edit: There is all this talk about Zimmer wanting big CBs but let's remember that one of the Vikings starting CBs last year and Zimmer favorite is Terrance Newman who is the same size and Alexander. Newman always looks and plays like a bigger CB but he isn't. It's seemed to work out pretty well for him for his career and for Zimmer on 3 different teams.

Alexander is gonna play corner for us. If we were gonna take a safety Bell would have been a much better pick than Alexander to play next to Smith as Bell was the best cover safety in the draft and we need a center fielder next to Smith so he can roam and play from multiple spots while we cover behind him.

I do, for two reasons: Like Strange said, MIA are probably not going to be good in '16 so that 3rd might actually be better than the 3rd they gave up before you consider the two extra picks, plus next year may be a "quantity" year, replacing AP, Robison, Greenway, and possibly Munnerlyn, ASmith, Newman, Kalil, Loadholt.

I'm sure that all the people in South Florida would be very upset if they weren't too busy watching premiere league soccer.

But I am still disappointed more wasn't done to get quality this year. They played 17 games last year, won 11 of them, and were a play away from winning 3 more. They lost and/or walked away from 6 players and signed 5 players off of other teams. This is not a depleted roster by any stretch. Using draft picks on guys your just going to cut at the end of camp seems like a waste.

The great thing about that trade with Miami is apparently the Vikings get either their 4th round pick or the best compensatory pick they get. In other words if Miami were to get an end of 3rd round compensatory pick that will go to the Vikings along with their 3rd round pick, rather than the 3rd and 4th round picks!

Not caring much for our draft this year. I liked our 1st round pick and am lukewarm on Alexander. Rest don't do anything for me.
