RIP Tavaris Jackson
God bless, and here's hoping your family doesn't let Troy Williamson be one of the pallbearers.

I was wondering today when they were talking about Tavarius if he would have been better in today's game.

I think he was one of those guys that was a good backup/not train wreck starter. I think he would have been a cheap QB for a team that just wanted to win some games playing defense and running the ball. He was sort of like a Tyrod Taylor. He was a bit of a joke because he was supposed to be the guy here but obviously wasn't but he didn't have a terrible career.
Re: RIP Tavaris Jackson
A little late to the party lol, but I always thought the biggest knock on his career was starting it under a shit coach who didn't really let him go out and play.

Yeah Childress probably wasn't the best guy for T-Jack's game. That was also that era of pretty awful WR talent too. At least they had AP and some other good RBs and TEs but if Bobby Wade is one of your top 2 receivers...not good. It seemed like Jackson should have used his athletic abilities to pick up some more yards on the ground but he didn't. I tend to think some of that was him not just coaching but it probably was a combination. I thought it was interesting that Cousins in his recent "Press Conference" that He heard Fran Tarkington Said he could run more. He said he has the athletic ability to get some more years on the ground and he wants to work on that. It's an awareness issue for a lot of guys including Kirk. I don't want most QBs taking off recklessly but sometimes they should take what the defense gives them more. It would put something in the back of the mind of defenders that that guy might take off.
Re: RIP Tavaris Jackson
Well put and I agree on basically everything there. Especially about knowing when to take off and run.

Re: RIP Tavaris Jackson
I think the OP covered the problem.
1. Do me a favor: Pull up Youtube. Type "Troy Williamson" into the searchbar. It will auto-populate "Troy Williamson drops". Watch the first two, both against DEN, one :46 seconds long and one :40 long, remembering that if those two are catches they probably make the playoffs. What more could T-Jack do? And keep in mind, that had to be less than 16 starts for him.
2. One thing I don't like about this board is the simplistic shorthand with no discussion of real problem. "Childress sucks". Really? He was 2 drops away from making the playoffs 3 of his first 4 years as a Head Coach, including a conference championship game that he was very close to winning on the road. I get it. Grant won the conference his 2nd year and Burns was a dropped pass from winning it the 2nd year, but that does not equal "Childress sucks". Childress made one mistake, and it cost him his H/C career. They have a saying in the south: Don't blame the scorpion for stinging you, blame yourself for petting him. I would have called Farve the day before 2010 camp and said "Do what you want there Huckleberry, but each day you're gone, our offer drops by $1m, because if you don't prepare we aren't winning anyway, so we might as well have that cap space for next year."
3. Rob Brezinski ran the 2002 thru 2005 drafts. '03 was good, but the other 3? Ouch. Let's just say maybe Rob belongs at the paperwork end of things.
