The 26-year-old will remain in the NFC North after penning a one-year deal worth $2.75 million with the Detroit Lions according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
He was a guy that just never seemed to put it all together. So much potential.
It will be interesting to see if he starts there. What is likely is that he starts the season suspended. Does anyone know if teams get cap relief if a player is suspended? I looked once last year but didn't find an answer.
Alexander signs with Bengals for 1 year 4 million. What!?!?! All I can think of is he didn't get the deal he really wanted and decide to do a 1 year deal and get back on the market and the Vikings weren't really wanting to do that.
Also I saw on twitter Griffen doesn't figure into the comp pick calculation because he has 10 years service time. QBs are excluded from that rule.
Source says that #Vikings free-agent kicker Dan Bailey has narrowed his list down to three teams in which he will sign with. The Vikings are one of them on his list. I'm not sure which the other two are.
I like the alignment with the DL we currently have, but would want to draft another LB early.
I think a 3-4 scheme with our personnel would be a disaster. Hunter is not an OLB and every play you drop him back in coverage is a waste. We just don't have the LB's to make it work. We have 2 three down LB's and a 3-4 needs 4 to really work. Then if you put resources there we still have no WR's or corners. That would be a multi-year rebuild to make that work.
I was thinking about how Hunter would work in this. I don't think he would drop in coverage much. I think in a 3-4 you would be rushing Hunter and Barr a lot and they would have the responsibility to sniff out screens. It would certainly be a zone blitz. I don't think we would ever see him being tasked with covering anyone man to man. I would think this would be great against the run for us. I think it would all come down to what we would do at DE and who we draft. If we draft a LB that can play 3 downs we would be in good shape. Zach Braun would be a great fit for us and could be there in second.
