Laremy Tunsil who was the 13th overall pick for Dolphins started at LG before moving to LT and got traded to Texans. Maybe that is what we do with Cleveland. I am more a fan of letting him sit. A lot of my thoughts are that Udoh could be good enough to start at RT this year and has a ton of potential. I don't think he could play LG this year.

So let me get this straight...we are going to move our best lineman from RT all the way over to the other side to play LG? And you are doing this because two second year guys that have played one meaningless game are ready to roll on the right side? And Samia is known to be better than Elfien? Maybe so but right now that's the biggest question mark to me RG it LG take your pick. At least Elfien has played games even if they aren't that good. You have a heck of a lot more faith than I do. And I thought I was an optimist! The idea of moving O'Neill to the opposite side of the line I didn't catch earlier. It's not easy. Worthwhile guards have struggled with the switch.
Great it worked for one guy In Tunsil and sure it's worked for other guys. How many guys didn't it work for? Matt Birk made the switch from college tackle to center.
I would consider it. I agree switching sides is not easy. The first option would be Cleveland. He can develop a bit playing LG for a year vs sitting. O'Neal played both sides in college so I could see him making the switch. He played LT his last year in college and we moved him to RT.
If O'Neal is your best OL he should be playing LT simple as that, but we just drafted a potential LT. Udoh and Samia both are solid prospects, but neither has played on left side. I don't think Elfein did until last year. Udoh has some crazy long arms and that makes him less of a guard in my opinion. Plus guard tend to pull more than tackles and centers. I think O'Neil's TE background would make him adapt well to LG.
Isaiah Wynn, New England Patriots moved from LG in college to LT in NFL.
Braden Smith, Indianapolis Colts was RG in college and moved to RT in NFL.
Those are some interesting moves. Usually, guards don't move outside in NFL and it is not like those are horrible OL's.

It's not exactly a strong compliment saying O'Neill is the best Vikings Olineman...he is a pretty good RT though regardless.
Your point was if he is the best olineman he should be playing LT. Of course I'm pretty sure you wouldn't say that a few years ago when it was Joe Berger. :)

Not exactly Vikings related but sources say JD Speilman has now entered the transfer portal. According to the article I read if he doesn't get a waiver to play this year he won't play in college again. At this point its possible a lot of college players won't play as much as a typical season so... I'm hoping at some point there is a bit of clarification on why JD made this move. I can see why this happened but it is also a bit strange without more info. Bleed was right months ago he wasn't coming back to Nebraska...his dad didn't draft him though. =)
