53 man roster is set.

Surprises for me:
Guys that made it
-Ameer Abdullah - RB I didn't think they would keep 5 RBs
-Tajae Sharpe - WR - I thought Hollins beat him out.
-Dru Samia - Didn't seem like he made much progress from last season
-James Lynch - Didn't hear his name at all.
-D.J. Wonnum - Sounds like he struggled a bit in camp
Guys that didn't:
-Aviante Collins - OL - He was in the mix for starting LG
-Alexander Hollins - WR - Had a great camp

Re: Vikings Training Camp 2020
It will be interesting what we look for from other teams cuts. We certainly need depth at safety and would think OG and DT would be on the list.
Re: Vikings Training Camp 2020
There was some interesting names on the cut list. Dan Chisena making it and Hollins not making it was a surprise.
Safety position currently has Smith and Harris...that's it. It's worth remembering though that PS guys can be elevated on game day every week so they could bring back a safety they cut to the PS and fill that spot to some extent in that way.
Chad Graff reported in his breakdown of the final roster that Elfien was the one that asked for the position switch to RG where he thought he was most comfortable. I had not heard that before. Hopefully it works
I had forgotten Harrison hand was a draft pick. There was plenty of other CBs to think and talk about I sorta forgot about him other than he was on the roster. There was talk of him being a guy that might be a safety but I haven't seen anything Reported about him actually making the switch.
Interesting that they cut both Browning and Stanley. I'm guessing they like both guys to some extent and the likelihood that both guys would be claimed is pretty low. So taking their chances one of them will be on the PS but which one will it be? Or maybe even someone else entirely? I'm not losing sleep over it but it's interesting.

Vikings claimed Ryan Connelly and released Hardy Nickerson jr. Also signed 13 to the PS

That was a good pickup. Local kid that tore his ACL after starting as a rookie.
Dan Chisena seems to be a lock as a special teams ace. I would have thought he would have made it through waivers.
We got most guys back on the practice squad. Still no depth at safety.

Still 3 more PS spots to fill. Myles Dorn S was placed on IR and Josh Metellus S is on the PS. One report said that they are playing to bring in K Chase McLaughlin to the PS.
As for Chisena it's possible he is a real talent that could turn into something. He didn't play much in college but obviously has athletic ability. Could he be a guy that has legit talent but because he went the track route early on in college he didn't develop it at the time but will end up growing into it now? Idk but it's interesting to think about. That move to safety didn't last long. Lol

I still can't believe we are going into the season with only 2 safeties while keeping 7 WR's on a team that plays a lot of 2 WR, 2 TE sets. They do know you can't call up a practice squad safety in the middle of a game right lol? Oh and our entire DB secondary is young so who's gonna be able to fill in for even a couple plays for Smith or Harris if needed? That guy is getting throw at immediately if that happens.

I wonder if they are exploring a trade at the moment? Nobody keeps 7 WR's. Never heard of that before.

They can have 2 PS players active on game day so they have depth for at least week 1. The article I read said you can have a PS player active for 2 games before you have to actually sign them to the roster. They can't be active 2 consecutive weeks. You can also protect a few players every week from being signed from the practice squad to another team's roster. Another change for this year is vets being able to be in the PS which is why Brett Jones is on there. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to get another Safety to sign to the PS like that guy they picked up from I think it was the Dolphins. He is probably exploring all his options as a young vet with some starting experience.
I'd also guess they feel like they could move someone from CB to Safety and be ok to finish a game...I mean they might feel more comfortable with that than some of the new young safeties they had in camp which...isn't exactly a good thing but it is what it is.
It is a lot of WRs but if they feel those guys are more talented than another spot then you keep them until you have to make another move. Injuries sometimes work these types of things out. It's also worth considering that after Thielen there is no proven high level guy although they drafted Jefferson in the first round. They may be hoping to hit on another high level guy that was added to the roster with low resources.

Re: Vikings Training Camp 2020
We have ignored the safety position in the draft and it is kind of showing now. I think we can get by, but an injury is going to hurt. I am not sure which CB would be a good player to shift to safety. I kind of think
Harrison Hand and Kris Boyd could be options.
