This is an interesting offseason plan. I would be all for it.
I think it is extremely unrealistic that 4 of our best players restructure in Diggs, Thielen, Barr and Hunter. That seems like magical Christmas land. Typically under performers do it, but not guys at the top of their game.
Going through all that (assuming this person has their numbers and info right) even though its pretty unlikely shows the Vikings likely do have more flexibility than might be assumed at first glance. If the Vikigns were able to pull off this offseason it would be a heck of a group of moves.
Now to some nitpicks...
Griffin is already a FA which happened once he passed number of sacks to trigger FA for him
Its going to cost more than what he states here to keep Bailey and Colquitt.
Other thoughts
Harris turns 29 in October. How long term of a deal do you give him? He likely has less miles on his body but he did also play lots on ST. Having said all that the Vikings have 1 safety under contract at this point and Kearse seems to think he is out. I'll mention that Waynes turns 28 in July. Treadwell turns 25 in June. lol Back tot he future of the Safety position...It may suck to lose a young Safety in Epps to the eagles (CB Craig James is there too) but I'll say that Sendejo played pretty well in the playoffs so its hard to argue much with that move at this point especially if Sendejo comes back cheap and plays well in some role. Its kinda weird that the Vikings have not signed any young guys for that spot. Maybe they know Harris wants to come back and they are going to pay basically whatever they can to make it happen. That does sound like what the Vikings do pay to keep their own good players.
I wouldn't resign Harris. Every year you can get a starting safety in the 4th or 5th round that would be nearly as good for much less money.
Betting on a 4th or 5th rounder to be a solid starter seems way too risky for what will likely be our last big run at contention for the near future. Going from a top turnover creator and guy who enables us to put Harry wherever we want to a potential bust on the back end could just tank the defense. With corner sort of being up in the air I think we have to bring Harris back to keep a stable back net to the defense. Also I'd prefer Kearse to the human missile who lacks the proper targeting guidance system. I can't imagine Kearse is gonna get paid anywhere.
Expecting a rookie DB to come in and be able to play as a starting safety in this defense seems like it might be too much to ask. I'm not against it just saying that even vet DBs have struggled to acclimate their first year.
We have gotten spoiled in terms of finding gems at the safety spot. Kearse's commets kinda bugged me and made me wonder if there is a problem...if they are so willing to let him go. He did get arrested and later in the season was banged up which was part of why he wasn't playing. I'm still surprised how well Sendejo did as the Nickle guy. He looked slimmer and maybe at that spot he will have less chances to try and knock people out. I'd happily bring him back for anything under 3 million. He is gonna be cheap he only got 1.3 million last year and he is a year older.
Let's put it this way if I was gonna pay up for one of the FA DBs I think I would rather do it for Harrris because:
1. He is the best player of all of them maybe by a wide margin.
2. Other than Sendejo or a draft pick or another FA they have no other options to fill that position. At CB they have some young guys in Hill and Hughes you would think should be able to be decent at this point playing as starters.
It wouldn't hurt to have some guys be let go and we get those comp picks. Bleed would love that for his rebuilding dream. :)

Thanks for posting that clip of Treadwell. It showed that these guys are humans. We forget sometimes these athletes are trying to figure out life just like we are and nobody just figured it out and goes on with their life. There are always changes. I don't have high hopes for him as a football player but I also cheer for the guy a little extra because people get so down on him. I just considering him and other hard working young recurved just trying to make it. It would be quite a story if he ended up figuring it out and became a solid WR for the Vikings. It could also be one of a number of other guys to make it instead.
If I remember right Thelien emerged the year he was drafted. He never figured out the route running and how to get open and when he did he dropped it. He looked amazing in his college highlights. It seems like a lot of this is mental for him. I wish him the best of luck. Being picked in the 1st round probably didn't help him, but it certainly gave him a longer leash.

From what I remember it sounded like Treadwell wasn't fully healthy his rookie year. His problem was he just didn't get separation and he isn't so physically huge that you just chuck him the ball. He is 6'1". Compare that to a guy like Michael Jenkins who was 6'4". There was also a lot of talk about him overworking himself doing too much. He isn't some lazy guy. I think it's still clear the Vikings think he is a good blocker because he his put out there in various formations and snaps where that matters. If he had great hands you could sort of use him like a possession guy or maybe a TE but...I just don't feel confident in that aspect of him. I mean Bisi Johnson isn't much smaller and other than blocking (assuming) I can't think of anything Treadwell is better at. Bisi easily seems quicker and more shifty.
The thing with Treadwell was he was a contested catch guy in college and we never played him that way. The league doesn't want that anymore. They want safe throws created by good separation. There's a lot less gunslinging in this NFL. Receivers are expected to win routes now more than win the ball and it's led to historic passing numbers across the league, but that was never what Treadwell was about.

This something as hadn't thought about. In addition think about the QBs Treadwell had. Not sure Bradford and that system would have been good for him either...well maybe. After that who are you going to chuck the ball too if you are gun slinging like Keenum would sometimes? You have Diggs Thielen and even Rudolph if he was running a pattern. That Green Bay game where Treadwell had those drops and later that year he was running wrong patterns or something and it ended in some INTs...it was just brutal. That had to suck for him. That stretch of games...when you think back on it is probably the clincher of why fans really get into dogging him. WRs are supposed to catch the ball and run the right patterns etc.
Meanwhile I see Rodney Adams came out of retirement and Coley is one of a bunch of ex Vikings in the XFL.
