Help Wanted

Post by khans2k5 [enjin:6608728] »

Norv is pissing me off this game. This is one of the worst called games I have ever seen. No wonder they look out of sorts. Run on 1st down for nothing. Either run for nothing again on 2nd down or go for a play to get a first that fails. Get sacked on 3rd and long. Seriously. What the fuck is he doing? Ya, let's run the ball on the goal line with a WR as a lead blocker and off a WR motion with not enough bodies blocking in the first place let alone enough to get a push. Chicago has no line and are calling a great game meanwhile Norv is just shitting the bed. His play calling makes no sense and builds no momentum in drives and we just 3 and out too much. I get it. The line sucks. Other teams have found ways around it. Why can't we?

Norv isn't great but you cannot put this on him. The Eagles showed if you can rush the passer, and against this line who can't, jump the short routes and the Vikes fold. There is no coordinator that can make lemonade from these lemons and it doesn't help that the world beating defense sucks balls now for some reason too.

The defense sucks because they are on the field the whole first half every game because we go 3 and out almost every possession. No defense holds up under playing that much. Also the Bears have just as many injuries on the O-line and they look fine. Why? Because they have a diversified playbook. They aren't predictable. We are and it constantly puts us in bad downs and distance. Maybe don't give the ball to Asiata 14 times when he is averaging 3 yards a game. Maybe get some guys open over the middle of the field with some momentum and let them get some yards after catch. 3 points (not counting the garbage time TD) is a fucking disgrace and a large chunk of that is on Norv not having a good game plan. Not playing hurry up when you are down 3 scores late in the 3rd quarter makes no sense. Good teams play around bad lines by spreading the field out and getting the ball out. Meanwhile we are dropping Sam back trying to throw 15 yard breaking routes when he has no line. The game wasn't over in the first half when he was still making shitty play calls so I am going to put a lot on him. He's not protecting his QB and not using his weapons effectively and that's his job. The Bears suck and the offense looked terrible and directionless. That tells me he's not doing his job.

I share your frustration, I just don't think the lack of talent along the offensive front can be game planned for. As for the D, yes they tire out over the course of a game but there is no excuse for falling on their faces in the first half or getting walked all over on the opening drive in the second half. You tire a D out and beat them up in the 4th, not the 2nd. If anything right now I hold Zimmer responsible as his unit is still intact while Turner is pretty much trying to do it with mirrors.

So I listening to PA. So if we lose again to the Lions and the offense again does nothing how long does Zimmerman keep Norv? I know there is a huge talent issues on OL, but it looks like we have no creativity on offense. We just don't seem to be playing to whatever strength we have and keep pounding away with our weaknesses.

Offensively they have no strength to pound away at. They have a line that cannot block for the run, and cannot block four men long enough for mid-range passes to develop. That leaves the quick, short passing game which a defense can jump routes on and make an offense zero-dimensional. If you jump the short routes you risk getting beat deep, but only if you cannot get pressure on the QB, and right now a five year old can get pressure on Sam. Defenses used to stack the box against AD, now they do it against our passing game because they know Sam will be in the dirt before a 15+ yard route is run.

At this point I would not be surprised to see them trade for Joe Thomas, but will one man make a difference? The line isn't just getting beat on the outside, the middle is getting bulldozed too.

I also would not be shocked to see Turner fired. I will however be extremely surprised if whomever has the bad luck of replacing him does any better given what they have to work with. They've lost 5 guys along the line since camp opened, given most teams keep 8 linemen during the season, and the Vikes didn't have 5 quality linemen to begin with, much less 8, the results aren't remotely shocking.

The Vikes are in a bad place and there is no inseason fix, at best they can apply a leaky bandaid. Their schedule is relatively easy and they still currently have a two game lead over GB given they hold the tiebreaker so the playoffs aren't out of reach, but success in the playoffs will be 100% dependant upon the D dominating, anything less and they have no chance.

I didn't see the game I only know they lost and what a few have posted here. I will also add that they lost AP the explosive player at RB and then played yesterday without a guy that at least has some prayer of making some plays in McKinnon. Asiata is a nice plugger type but he isn't scaring any defense and I don't know if they used Hillman at all but he probably doesn't worry the Defense a whole lot and he is still fairly need to the team. So you can't run block and you don't have a game changer at RB in any phase where running the ball or catching out of the backfield. Damn that's tough.

Bills signed Harvin.

I wonder how 84 would play as a RB. I think he would obviously suck at blacking, but he is the one guy that can make things happen.

I swear the Patriots make lemonade all of the time out of lemons. I look at that team and dont' see many good players outside Brady and Gronk, but they certainly perform as a unit.
