And don't forget they played that season with a rookie QB that even this season the fans hopes were he'd finally have a break out season. The second consideration is that that team didn't have the offensive skill position talent they posses this season so with a good veteran QB and Diggs and company the offense will struggle to not be better than that season.
I'll also mention that year's Oline wasn't exactly that great either so...yeah. That team went 7-9 but the defense wasn't nearly what it was now.
If a guy plays even when he's had nagging injuries but struggles while do so it still means he struggles. ITS commendable but he's still hurting this team at times. One good year doesn't excuse the others. Having said that, the line is a mess right now and it's now unrecognizable. No Sullivan, loadhoalt or KalIL will really challenge this team. I was really disappointed with the release of Sullivan becuz even if Berger outplayed him in camp his real value lied within his versatility to move around the line. Now he's stuck at center with no experience to help fill in the other areas.
The defense and our coach outclassing his counterpart via in game adjustments will keep this team competitive. Hopefully losing AP will force Turner to expand the play book to include more screens and pass plays including the Rbs in general.

Having watched Turner's past teams, especially when he was with the Chargers who I follow as a second favorite team, he like to use the RBs in the passing game and keep the defence off balance. I wouldn't say AP's absence will force him to do that so much as I'd say his presence has limited his ability to use those plays often and/or effectively. AP is a one dimensional player, and in his prime that was enough for him to be a game changer, but at this point in his career it's been a big negative IMO. I fully expect a more varied, less predictable offense going forward. Of course an ineffective line could negate all that.
