Panthers and Vikings game day thread
Re: Panthers and Vikings game day thread
Our coaching staff is impressive. I feel like we are always in the game.

This is looking like an impressive win.

Yup. VERY impressive win. I really did not see it coming.

That was a coaching clinic. Leslie Frazier should be taking notes

It was an absolutely dominate defensive effort and I didn't see quite that high level coming but I'm certainly not shocked they won. 8 sacks and 3 INTs on Cam who at times looked paralyzed as wheat to do was impressive. The offense did enough and adheres had a big return and could have had an INT on a time when he was matched up against the biggest baddest WR on the field. That would have been funny.
Also I am biased but I thought Sirles did a pretty solid job subbing in for Boone. Hopefully Boone's hip injury isn't serious but I'm not feeling good about that.
Re: Panthers and Vikings game day thread
Most dominant defensive effort in recent memory! What I loved about it was it wasn't just a matter of the line harassing Cam, the credit goes to all three levels of the D with the secondary shutting everything down, linebackers controlling the middle and contributing in the rush and yes, a unbelievable game by the line!!
On offense Bradford played well with no turnovers and doing a great job of running the offense in the second half! Rudolph, Diggs, and Thielen all played a good game and the line managed to get it together in spite of being down 2 starters. I liked that they weren't as predictable in the second half as they were in the first and with AP in previous games.
On to play the Giants at home, they're a good team, but not great by any means, Four and Oh My Gawd!!!

Wow, very impressive game with the injuries we had. I had less confidence than others about beating them at home. Just a nice big road win! SKOL!!!!

That is a Superbowl caliber defense. If you play Fantasy football and have a QB going up against the Vikes, sit his ass down!
Hill and Bradford seem to understand that the defense is the team's strong suit and so they know that the worst thing they can do is turn the ball over. So far they are executing Zim's strategy to a T.

A couple more thoughts:
Patterson had a pretty good day. He was making plays on the coverage team. If he can start become an Adam Theilen type as a special teamed in addition to being a KR and actual useful player on offense he will have a place on this team and they can probably afford to pay him a decent chunk of money. Remember this guy is 25 years old.
Locke followed up last week where he punted well with another good performance sure that first pint took a bad bounce but holding Ginn to zero return yards is pretty good and Locke definitely had a hand in that along with terrific coverage.
We give Zimmer and his staff and the players credit at this point but I think that Speilman and his staff deserve credit too. Sure he isn't batting 1.000 espcially considering the oline is a question mark but man he has drafted some really good players the ought the draft. Look at the stars of that defense. Spielman has a hand in bringing all hose guys on board. Stephen is a solid player and he was what a 7th round pick? Send who might be the weakest link of the defense but this team has endured much worse at that position over the years. Zimmer probably gets a lot of credit for bringing in a couple of those guys and he should but Spielman also should get credit for taking that input and acting on it. Oh and bringing in Joseph and Captain were key additions on defense as FAs.
Speaking of some of those draft picks Griffin came back from being sick and was all over the field. Hunter tossed another Olineman to the side and gobbled up a QB. He turns 22 in a few weeks is a backup and has 3 sacks in 3 games. He already has 9 career sacks for his career and we heard when he was drafted how he was supposed to be too raw and didn't know how to rush the passer. He might be even more impressive overall than Griffen was when he was young and Griffen was something both physically and he produced some as well I was and am a big fan of Griffin. Hunter...wow

What a terrific game...didn't really see much chance of winning in Carolina and was more worried about a blowout the other way! You guys have captured most of the reasons we won, but just a few observations.
-we may have the most athletic defensive ends in the league with Griffin and Hunter...and Robison is playing well too
-what a difference it makes to have Xavier Rhodes on the field...potential all-pro this year.
-the offense did what some of us thought it might. With AP out and the defense not jamming the line of scrimmage, the running game was actually more effective even with inferior RBs. And Bradford passed just as effectively against a defense not designed only to stop AP. It was what I dreamed might happen, but didn't really expect.
-except for the mystery named Blair Walsh, our special teams are a terrific asset right now.
-this team makes mid-game adjustments as well as any team in the league...credit to both the coaches and the players.
-I got a sick feeling in my stomach when both Boone and Kendrick got hurt...Boone's looked pretty bad, but any news on Kendrick?
Next Sunday is a potential let down game, but we're better than a Giants team that just lost at home to a Redskins team missing 4 starters. 4-0 needs to be our goal!
