Damn, first we take favre out of retirement and now your calling to get terry bradshaw out of retirement. We are really pulling out all the stops.

Whoa...I didn't realize until just now that we got Bradford, not Bradshaw. Well now I'm in favor of the trade!

Thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts. All I saw was the box score and around 20 highlighted plays. The amazing thing was only 5 penalties called between 2 teams in a week 1 game. I thought Hunter's sack was really impressive he just threw that Olineman like he was a big boy not some freak edge rusher. I know I saw all the good throws by Hill but they looked pretty good to me. He knows what he is doing out there and gets the job done well enough. Walsh seems to be the biggest worry to me. Mason Crosby went through a pretty prolonged stretch but he finally came out of it and is back to being a good kicker again. I think Walsh will come out of it, but I don't know how long it will take. at least he got lots of opportunities in this game.

LST Hyperbole Time: If the Vikings stay reasonable healthy, they will be a top 3 defense this year. They missed Rhodes yesterday (Waynes had a good tackling day, but his loose CB coverage is still an issue) and they gave up too many yards, but Zimmer's schemes match up 100% with the athleticism of some of our studs...and that is going to lead to a lot of big plays like yesterday. I didn't see Adam Zimmer this morning as I was walking my dog, but can't wait to ask him how proud he was of the smart play Kendricks made on his interception...we know how athletic he is, but he showed on that play the difference between a second year player and a rookie. We were good on defense last year, but I think we are going to be great this year.

Re: Vikings vs Titans - Pre-Game Thread
A few questions to ponder:
1. At some point, AP is bound to slow down and become just an average RB. He can't go on forever. Does that happen this year?
2. Is Diggs the possession receiver this team needs in order to play its conservative brand of football? He seems like he can catch a lot of passes in tight windows to keep the sticks moving and the clock running. If AP is slowing down, they need a workhorse receiver to replace some of what is lost in the running game.
3. Do we need to move on from Blair Walsh? His misses yesterday were embarrassingly bad. I'm not sure I trust the guy to mentally stay focused and positive if he's put into another pressure situation with the game on the line, especially in the playoffs.

And now you are bringing Ponder into the equation?!? ;-)
AP seemed to miss a bunch of open cutbacks, and just burrowed into the mass of bodies in front of him. As LST said, hopefully he will watch some film, see the missed opportunities, and come back strong against the Pack.
Yup. Diggs has the ability to create some space and catch the damn ball. Just what you want for a possession receiver.
And I do not know what to say about Blair Walsh...

Didn't what a minute. I usually enjoy the Minnesota fall until the Wolves season starts and then once we are basically eliminated from the playoffs I switch over to watching the NFL and Vikings. Glad Vikings won, but was worried since the Titans are close to putting things together.

DVR it, and fast forward though it in an hour Sunday night...and enjoy fall!

LOL, that's hilarious and a sad commentary on the Wolves.

Great point about AP's lack of vision yesterday...Assiato is a mere shadow of AP, but he seemed to see holes that AP chose to ignore. I'm optimistic because he was almost as bad against a poor 49ers defense in the opener last year. Although much of AP's brilliance is due to instinct and athleticism, you can't expect him to have a great game after taking the preseason off. He ran for 31 yards against the Niners last year, and then ran for 134 and 126 in Games 2 and 3...I expect the same kind of bounceback against the Pack.
As for Q's question about whether this is the year AP starts to slow down, I would guess not. Zimmer isn't one to be overly positive about his players, but last week when he was asked about AP physically, he said there in no question that he is more ready for this season physically than last year. I was surprised and quite encouraged by that comment.
I liked Diggs a lot yesterday, but I'm still not convinced he can be a top-notch possession receiver. Even though he didn't play yesterday (although he was active over Wright), I'm more hopeful that Treadwell will become that guy. Keep in mind rookie Diggs didn't play much in the early part of last season, and then emerged as our star receiver as the season progressed. I'm not going to be surprised if Treadwell does the same.
