Would you trade Garver?

The best time to trade Garver was a season ago. I think his value is low relative to his ability right now.

As cam said he has no trade value. I would've traded him for Goldschmidt a couple years ago.

At the time Garver was a stud hitter that was also a solid catcher. If you believed that he was going to continue to hit even if it wasn't going to be what he was that year then it's hard to want to deal him. Selling high looks like a smart move now though.

At this point they may as well hold onto him and hope he finds success again.

Makes sense to me. Any chance he rebounds?

Oh, I think so, bleed. Garver didn't report his oblique strain until well into the season last year, but his swing seemed different to me all season. I suspect it started bothering him in the spring and never healed. But he just crushed the ball in 2019, and there's no reason a healthy Garver can't hit .270 again with 20-30 home runs if he's healthy again. 2 hits in his first 4 at bats this spring with a homer is the first indication he just might be getting back to the 2019 Mitch.

That would be great for this club and then we would be right back at it being tough to trade him. :-)

That would be a good problem. If Jeffers is the real deal and Garver returns to form that would really be a nice tandem and I think if there was a deal where you could get value for Garver who I believe has 2 more years of arbitration then it may make sense to do so. I have no idea what kind of deal that would materialize that would make sense. Regardless Garver returning to form would be a nice development and protect the team depth in a few ways.

Or we could just keep the best and cheapest 1-2 punch in baseball for catchers. Ryan Jefferers barring injury is going to be the twins catcher for next 8 years. Hes already top 10 defensive catcher and he can already hit like a league average catcher.

Doesn't Garver moonlight at 1B too? Does Sano have value?

That's what I was getting at. If Sano gets hurt or Cruz you can plug Garver in at 1B some and DH even more than he might anyway if he is hitting.

IMHO no Sano doesn't have value worth dealing. Lets put it this way if teams weren't willing to pay Rosario 10 million they probably aren't going to give up anything of worthwhile value for Sano.
