You don't hold rights. If your not signed you can go back in the draft pool 2 years later. This can even happen with top picks I believe the Astros couldn't sign Mark Appel 5-6 years ago.

The worst part in this draft is there deferring the kids signing bonus over 3 years. So Meyer will get like 6 million but there only paying them 100k this year and then he will make 3 mil next year and 3 mil the year after that.

I was wondering about the kids that don't get drafted. Can they go to a team and sign a 1-year contract and become a free agent after a year and choose which farm club they want to be in or are they going to be required to sign a longterm deal that locks them in with a club.

Gotcha. So if drafted out of high school a kid could be a free agent at 24 years old if not on the 40 man and decide which team he wants to play for?

If that is the case things could get pretty interesting and teams could rebuild a little faster.

So what's the take on this draft? I'm clueless on the prospects but I actually really enjoyed the coverage on MLB.com.

I see Sunday is when teams can sign the undrafted guys. So they can get 25k but assuming there is some type of season they also get a salary per season right? Anyone have a rough number of what that would be?

OK. I'm not going to pretend I know everything about 18-22 y/o baseball players from San Diego, Houston, and Miami. This is just a general question: The Twins seem to use a disproportionate amount of high picks on Corner INF's and OF's, whereas baseball is won with pitching and up-the-middle play. Am I wrong about the facts, the strategy, both, or neither?

There were teams that used all of their picks in this draft on pitchers. There was at least one team that picked all position players. One of the theories of picking college hitters Higher in the draft is that they are more likely to end up being worthwhile players in some way shape or form than picking a pitcher of any type. I'm no expert far from it just sharing some thinking and it wasn't just in relation to what the Twins did etc.

That would be my midset too.

60 game season here we come. This should help Jose Berrios and Jake Odorizzi who were strong first half pitchers last year.
