I wish they would just ban arguing, or even talking with officials. Let the coaches communicate with the refs during timeouts or inbetween quarters, but not during play. I mean it's really gotten to the point where the product is a joke.

I agree with everything you said here. The thing is I think it's been plenty bad idk like 10 years.

It would be fun to make players go officiate some reasonably competitive basketball somewhere and see how they feel about yelling at refs after that experience.

Of course that won't change anything for some guys. A friend I went to college with and took a lot of classes with (we were both PE majors and officiated lots of sports together) was a smart player knew all the rules was damn good at every sport but often was one of the worst players in terms of complaining about calls. Of course one of the problems was a vast majority of the time he really knew better than the officials did. By the time he graduated from college he did recognize he had a problem and improved in this area to some extent. I was also shocked how well and how patient he was coaching girls high school basketball in his first job out of college. I'm sure he got worked up a bit with refs in games although I never saw him have anything other than typical head coach reactions etc. He was great working with the players. I had a cousin that played for him and had a great experience. Anyway the last year I played city league basketball he was on our team (played with him a couple years actually) and at that point was in his 30's. He was probably one of the best players in the league we played in. In one game he got so upset with calls he pretty much lost it and while he didn't get physical or say anything that he really would regret later he got ejected and tossed out of the gym and deservedly so. While at least one of the calls were bad the dude knows better. Some of those refs barely know what they are doing. We can't expect them to actually do a good job and this was just the classic parks and rec league we weren't playing for anything significant...far from it. The next game he apologized to everyone on our team. A couple games later he got T-d up again but then he mostly chilled out. Lol Some players just can't seem to help themselves.

Good to hear no suspension for Rudy. $25K fine for him and $10K for Finchie...seems about right. Pocket change for them.

Literally.

Rudy Gobert's fine is equivalent to a guy making $100,000 being fined $65.49.

[Note: Did I do that math correctly?]

That's all I need. No need to check.
