I wasn't' suggesting that Gobert has durability issues. It's just a reality that he's going into miss games and that he obviously shouldn't be expected to play more than around 30 minutes per game. Reid provides none of the defense or rebounding that Gobert provides. Knight is a 2-way player and can't be counted on as a back-up big. I agree that Kyle Anderson picks up some of the defensive and rebounding slack, but not nearly enough in my view. I'd still say that a defensive, rebounding big off the bench should be the Wolves top priority.

I don't see a backup SF as anywhere close to the need that the backup defensive rebounder or defending guard needs that have been well pointed out. The Wolves have Prince that's a pretty good depth player. Prince I think as a defender is decent but he is a solid all around player that helps in a few ways. Meanwhile if needed Edwards and even Anderson can play there some minutes. The Wolves currently have Russell, McLaughlin, Edwards, Nowell and Moore as guards. Edwards is the only guy you could argue is a guy we would expect to be above or well above average defensively. Like Q said maybe Moore does it as a rookie but I don't think we are going into the season planning on him being that guy...maybe we will change our tune based on some SL games or something. Lol Shaq Harrison did play a handful of games for Denver a couple seasons ago so Connelly knows him. He would be a guy that would likely sign a partially guaranteed deal so you could let him go if you found someone better in season...or even before the season started.

If someone wants another combo forward that plays their butt off, plays D, and can't shoot RHJ is available. :)

Monster - I think I agree that another SF should rank third on my list behind the other two. I'd keep defensive/rebounding big at the top of the list with a 3&D guard #2. And it would be really nice of the 3&D guard could also handle the ball.

Has Doogie been right about anything so far? :). I actually think Gorgui would be a fairly good addition on a vet minimum contract. But I still like the idea of adding Moses Brown who is already a terrific rebounder. I know nothing about his defense, but the numbers show he's a excellent rebounder. And of course, he' really big.

Id like an on the ball defender. A defense first guard to fill the Pat Bev role or give us a bit more speed when we need it. I understand needing a contingency for size and rebounding but I still think we may need some on ball help in the 2/3 zone.

I generally agree, Doper. We can't go into this season, in my view, with Edwards as our only good defensive guard. We need to do something to partially offset the loss of Beverley and it starts with on-ball defense and toughness. But we're also losing Beverley's offense, including his three-point shooting. We also lost Beasley's 3-point shooting. Forbes is only a 3-point shooter and he's some a limited role player that he can't see much court time. So I'm hoping for the on-ball defender you're talking about but also with 3-point shooting ability.

Yeah writing it out it seems like a lot to ask. I like the freedom KAT, Ant and Jaden are going to have to roam a bit more on D with Rudy backing them up, but a 3 and D guy would be amazing. If Wendell more can be a stud that is great but i still see that as the gap.

I think the defensive guard could either be a guy that also hits 3's OR maybe is a guy that can at least be a secondary player maker. It's gonna be hard to find a guy that's a 3 and D and we could still use another ball handler.

The above list contains my preferences in terms of available free agents at their position groups. I think it's a near certainty that Minnesota adds another big, and after sending Patrick Beverley to Utah they'll need to backfill that group as well. I'd expect two more signings after the Timberwolves announce the Rudy Gobert trade and finalize the Kyle Anderson and Bryn Forbes signings. I'd also expect them to be using the minimum salary exception and saving their bi-annual exception for next year.
