Yikes, I would have liked to get my hands on pick 35 with 40 and 48 or 50 or even 40 and some of Glen's cash. Someone this board likes will be at 35 (but maybe not 40), I can pretty much guarantee it.

Orlando clearly wanted a future pick and I believe they have multiple draft picks still. yeah they are picking at 32. If the Wolves wanted to give up a future pick to move up then sure. Would I have done that? Maybe not if it meant I still had 3 more 2nd rounders to figure out what to do with.

Meanwhile this is a pretty good move for the Lakers and I thought they would try and get into the 2nd round. I didn't think they would be able to get something this high. They have been pretty solid drafting and adding player well outside the lottery. If I was a Laker fan I would be feeling good about this development.

I don't have a problem with what the Lakers did, but I don't have to run all my decisions by Lebron and his high-school George/Elaine/Kramer. If they asked Lebron, he would have said use the roster spot on a vet, like DJordan.....or KG....or Brett Favre. Again, ORL's plan should have been to exercise their 3 picks and spend their capspace on the best point or wing they could have gotten. The fact that they didn't tells me they are bringing back one their own FA's, and they all had bad seasons. Kind of just more words.

I honestly love draft night. As a Wolves fan especially, it's so often been a night to regret in the past and at the same time the next one is always such a night for hope for the future. As fans, those emotions bring us together. And our feelings must be similar to those of the players, though ours must pale in comparison to theirs. The hope, the anxiety, the life-changing attention and money for guys barely older than kids. And for the families, the pride, and that powerful mix of joy and sadness as you see your kid grow up and move on. And the unfortunate truth is that it won't last for most of those guys, if they even make the league. So it's really a bittersweet night in a lot of ways.

Plus, you've got the craziness of the outfits and the media spectacle, and at the same time, all those different backgrounds of kids coming from all over the world in a lot of cases and their paths have all, improbably, led them to this one destination together. It's giddy and exhilarating and touching at the same time.

And on top of it all, it's a moment when so many decisions get made that change the course of so many players, franchises, and their fans. And who knows where it's going to end up? We can always look back in retrospect and feel like it was obvious, but so much is unknown. We just can't see the future, as much as we want to believe we can, otherwise you'd never have busts or sleepers. So many great players get picked later in the draft, and sadly, so many guys picked early just don't pan out. The whole event is, almost by definition, a massive confluence of turning points, and simultaneously a reminder of how crazy and unpredictable basketball, and life, really is. And that's the beauty of life. Our futures aren't written. They are unknowable. Like teams, like players, and like fans, all we can do is make our choices, try our hardest, and hope for the best as we wait to find out what will happen.

And with a bit of luck, we end up with a guy who can actually shoot the 3 better than he did in college!

Yes Drew! The spirit of this post is why I love the NBA and NFL draft too and why I like watching NFL preseason.

It's interesting to see the guys come through with their family. Some guys show personally just walking through there. Jovic looks like a fun dude.

Meanwhile why have all these steps? So many of the people spend most of the shot just looking at their feet. Maybe an incline isn't really possible but anyway just something that ran through my mind.
