I know he's been pretty bad at points but he's gotta be better than anything we could roll with if we traded him. At this point, we know we're not gonna win many games but we're also not gonna win the #1 pick, so I would rather just keep Thad, hope to get healthy and maybe get a nice run together at the end of the season with everyone healthy to inspire some hope.
Perkins is just so... Blah.

Have you guys seen Thad play this year? It would be a major coup not to be on the hook for his $9 million next year. Get rid of him for ANYTHING.

I agree. I like the idea of Perkins. He has some grit to him and is expiring. If someone pushed Wiggins around it would be nice to know we have an enforcer on the court. We could see if he is a fit to bring back at a lower price.

Anything expiring. We aren't going to upgrade talent with him unless we can work an angle on a team that is going to be in financial trouble. That is why I have been pushing trying to work a Thad for David Lee trade. The Warriors can't pay everyone next year without paying the tax and they are a historically cheap franchise. They still have to try to sign Green. Lee would be a great vet to play in front of a Rookie big. Unless the Warriors trade Lee they are in Luxury tax hell next year. The only real problem is that Thad may try to opt in there as well.

I'm in the camp of getting rid of Thad for an expiring, especially if it's Perkins. We would have no ties to him developmentally and could just waive him at any point if we wanted. Yes, that means we would have essentially traded a middling first for 9 million in cap space, but I'm very much okay with it as this team has plenty of youth and we'll be adding another very high pick this draft. If we're hard pressed to bring in a PF with some skill to finish out, we could look to Blatche when his contract is up in China on 2/1, though I know we'll be competing with contenders.
I'd rather have a #1 pick, our current youth, and cap space - not cap holds on picks or players. It would be the best position we've been in in years. We'd have so much room for activities!

Excellent point Bleed. I don't like Perkins, but he would be a good piece on this team.
