But would this indicate that Rosas is just swinging wildly... in only a few months, he goes from no legit PG (and 6'4" Okogie as the de facto guy) to mortgaging more of the future for a big pairing of John Collins + Towns?

I can live with the pivot or wild change in vision if it means that the Wolves are done trying to play small ball or four guard lineups. They'd be getting it right in this instance while still maintaining their "five out" system.

Also, trading for John Collins means that Minnesota is okay with paying him up to the max. They wouldn't make that trade and then have the same contract negotiation issues that Atlanta's having, would they?

Good gawd... I can't imagine that they're that short-sighted.

As for the vision pivot... my question is less about on-court success... and more about Rosas pivoting from a cocksure small ball advocate so quickly. It would make me question if he's quite as sure as himself as we were told. Repeatedly.

[Note: By the way, I have to imagine Atlanta can get a pretty solid deal for Collins and that the Wolves would be outbid.]

A couple things: Edwards is from there correct? You do NOT include McDaniels in this move. We finally have a potential defensive stopper who can guard 1-4, He must stay. If they want Culver it's truly a gift.

If we include Ant, we shouldn't have to include a #1. Ant, Culver, Vanderbilt, and some salary should do it.

Correct, Anthony Edwards is from Atlanta. That may or may not matter, but it certainly adds to the speculation.

I wouldn't include Jaden McDaniels in a move for John Collins if Minnesota was to give up Malik Beasley or Edwards, but I would include him with Jarrett Culver, Juan Hernangomez, and a future first-round pick if that got the deal done.

Additionally, if Atlanta held the trade up because they wanted McDaniels instead of Jarred Vanderbilt because the former is still on his rookie contract, I wouldn't let the deal die because of him. It's unlikely McDaniels ever becomes as good as Collins is right now.

Oooooh boy, that's risky Cam. Would you be surprised if McDaniels becomes a better player than Ant? I wouldn't. I mean he can go a lot of ways, but his ceiling is way up there. At his best, I see a Pippenesque quality to him. And he's so young and has so much time to develop. I want Collins but I'd hold on to Jaden if at all possible.

I think it'd be riskier to let a 20/10 big with proven three-point shooting ability -- that's not even 24-years old yet -- slip away because of a raw-but-intriguing rookie. I also wouldn't say Jaden McDaniels has an All-Star ceiling or anything close to Scottie Pippen on either end of the court. The shot-making and overall offensive game also hasn't been there. I just don't have that kind of confidence in his game.

For me, I would do what I could to keep him, but I wouldn't let him be the reason why a trade fell apart.

I think we're on pretty much the same page, I just have greater expectations for McDaniels. Would be disappointed if we had to give him up.

I really don't see the offensive ability for McDaniels to compare him to Pippen. Pippin had a great offensive skill set. I see McDaniels as a potential elite 3 and D guy with maybe a little offensive skill. I'm not sure his handle, passing and finishing will ever get really good.

He needs to add 25 pounds, and get up 10 thousand shots over the summer, just tighten up that shot and especially the corner 3 ball.

As far as the deal.

Give them Edwards and Beasley but we get Collins and their 1st this year top 3 protected.

Pippen came into the league at the age of 22, let's give the kid some time. I'm not saying he is going to become anywhere close to Pippen, but he has that ceiling. Few players reach their ceiling, I get that.
