Would you do Beasley for Collins
Would you do Beasley for Collins
John Collins has deleted all his IG posts today. Also he was followed by Kat/Dlo and Vanderpool today, increasing the speculation of Collins to the Wolves.
I don't know how a trade is done without Beasley involved. Would you do that trade for Collins will want the max

Interesting on the social media front. That could obviously just be coincidence for one of the Wolves players to follow him, but for multiple members on the same day? There might be something there.
I think I'd feel better about trading Anthony Edwards instead of Malik Beasley at this point. I'm surely going to be alone there.

"From some correspondence with somebody close to Collins, that camp views this situation, the idea of Collins playing next to KAT as favorable," Darren Wolfson of SkorNorth.com reported.
That's kind of a "no shit" report from Wolfson as playing next to a big as talented as Towns should only make the game easier for those around him, but there's real interest in Minnesota as a destination for Collins it appears.

I'm reading that Atlanta remains one of the few teams that are still high on Jarrett Culver. Maybe something like this could work?
Wolves:
- John Collins
- Tony Snell
Hawks:
- 2024 first-round pick (top-10 protected)
- Jarrett Culver
- Jarred Vanderbilt
- Juan Hernangomez

Re: Would you do Beasley for Collins
If I don't have to worry about cap and money? Hell yes. I love Beasley's intensity and offense, but he is hopeless on defense, and Collins is a true 2-way PF. As down as I am on Ant right now, we don't know yet who he is going to be, so I'd be reluctant to include him in a deal. But if Atlanta insisted on Edwards, I would at least listen...it would depend on who else they wanted (I don't like including Reid in the deal as Rand suggests in the Strib).
And even though I'm on the McDaniels bus, I'd include him in a deal with Edwards if it meant we could bring in Collins. Collins/Vando would be an attractive duo at PF. I would be reluctant to include our 2024 pick in this deal though.
I'd leave it to Rosas to figure out the cap ramifications assuming Collins wants max or near max money. Ideally I would love it if he could find a reasonably attractive return for DLO that wouldn't leave us with 3 max players, but I think that's not likely.

If that's all it took to get Collins then yes please. I love this deal on so many fronts, but I'm not sure its enough.
Re: Would you do Beasley for Collins
On salaries, if we landed him would offer Collins a fair market deal. I don't think he's a max player, and finally I would like to see us respond as such. On the luxury tax, Taylor should be paying it every year until we start winning. He's put us in this mess for years, I could care less what it costs him. I don't see how us paying a luxury tax affects our opportunity cost either since the only way we are getting legit players here is with Trades and drafting. I don't give a shit what it takes to get talent here, we need more of it.

Sure. I'm in... IF... we're all cool paying Collins what he'll demand... and he's willing to stay.
But would this indicate that Rosas is just swinging wildly... in only a few months, he goes from no legit PG (and 6'4" Okogie as the de facto guy) to mortgaging more of the future for a big pairing of John Collins + Towns?

I was under the impression that Collins is a absolute sieve on defense, am I wrong in that thinking?

"This season, playing alongside Clint Capela, Collins has been a positive contributor on both ends. Capela and Collins rank second in defensive rating in the Eastern Conference among two-man lineups that have played at least 350 minutes together, something Kevin Chouinard wrote about in January. To further illustrate the point, Collins and De'Andre Hunter rank as the fourth best two-man lineup in this area, while Collins and Trae Young rank fifth (yes you read that correctly)."

It would appear that he's been at least solid defensively this year, though admittedly I haven't watched enough of the Hawks to say decisively.
