- Holy crap that was some ugly basketball!

- Over two games, the Wolves starting 5's +/- is as follows (totals): McDaniels +24; Bowen +12; Knight +19; Nowell +25; Wright +19. Why so good? Defense. McDaniels and Wright stand out the most.

- Offensively, today was disappointing. I didn't think Wright or Nowell did enough to quarterback the offense and create good looks for themselves or others. Things got gummed up and Wright's unwillingness to let the 3 fly is a problem at this level. Nowell struggles to create separation between himself and a defender.

- McDaniels continues to try to make things happen offensively. He just doesn't have tight enough handles or a quick enough first step to put a lot of pressure on the rim. However, he does have a pretty nifty euro-step and his length allows him to get a clean look whenever he wants on pull ups.

- The announcers for this game were gushing over Patrick Williams. Seeing that he was the #4 pick in last year's draft with a year in the League under his belt, I wasn't all that impressed with him on offense. May be it had something to do with Jaden guarding him a good portion of the game. He was OK-ish from the field, but had 6 TOs. I guess he's probably similar to Jaden in that ultimately his role with the Bulls is more as a defender and catch-and-shoot guy.

OK, we'll see with only 24 hours of rest whether they can keep it up tomorrow!

Edit: LOL, just saw Kekgeek wrote up his summary too! We'll have to compare notes and see how different or same we saw things!

Wait a minute, Q...are you suggesting that defense is a factor in winning games? Does Rosas know this?

I didn't see the game, but I'm not surprised by the summaries here from kek and Q. The Wolves have assembled a SL roster with limited offensive firepower (with the exception of Nowell on the nights he remembers to bring his contact lenses), but some guys who have shown some promise defensively. Put those things together, and you end up with a game like last night.

I became a McDaniels fan last season, but I didn't get too excited about the early reports that the Wolves were going to feature him in SL. I still have high hopes for him as a starting SF (let's face it...statistically he wasn't that impressive last year), but he's going to make his mark as a sticky defender whose offensive ceiling is a role player who hits the occasional open shot. I'll take that.

I'll add a couple things.

McDaneils has had a few nice passes in both games as well. It's not just about being a scorer that means his game is expanding. Personally I'm comparing what he is doing to what some other high picks have done in SL. I like where he is at especially since not all those guys have the defensive end going for them.

Yes Wright probably needs to be more of a threat as a shooter but there is value in a guy that plays defense and doesn't get outside of himself and can run a team.

Knight had an uneven game. The positive about him is his versatile game on both ends. It probably gets him in trouble on both sides but it's not easy to find bigs with the theoretical skills he has and be able to move as well as he does.

Egbunu seeing him live in warmups the first game he is built like a refrigerator. He didn't look that tall for a guy that looks to need to play center. He had some solid minutes in this game despite struggling at the FT line. I can't remember 00 name but he had some solid minutes as well.

Nowell was not good in this game scoring the ball. He did also have a couple nice passes. I still believe in his skill set but through 2 summer league games I'm disappointed.

The good news is the Wolves played D and have guys that really get after it on that end and they have 2 wins.

Yeah, Nowell does not look like he's ready for any sort of breakthrough season. It's 2 games in summer league so not to be taken with too much weight, but he's one of the more seasoned players in terms of NBA experience at this point. He's struggling to create separation and make shots.

I think it's more he is just struggling to make shots...which is back to your biggest concern of him. The other things is that with so many other guys on the team handling the ball he isn't really getting that much of an opportunity to play that PG role. I was thinking about it while I was watching other games can he play that other ball handler role playing off a guy like Edwards who has the ball a lot or playing sort of a lead guard type guard in the mold Edwards would? Idk but that seems more doable than him being a true PG like McLaughlin. McKinley Wright looks like he can at least play defense and bring up the ball. Not sure about his ability to create for other though. Honestly I think that's a general issue for the summer league team. There isn't a guy that creates opportunities for other guys.

Still this is 2 games and the whole SL experience will be 5 games. I'm not suggesting it's a whatever type thing but it's 5 games and we are just 2 games in. I really wish Culver would have been healthy enough to be ready to play. I think it would have been good for him and some sort of way to gauge him against some other players. If he didn't look much better than a guy like Malcolm Miller then...

Yeah, I love watching Wright's defensive energy out there, but his lack of creation and shot making on offense suggests to me that he is NOT ready to be in an NBA rotation. The G-League is the perfect spot for him this season. But Rosas left himself a pretty damn big hole to fill with that Rubio trade. The cupboard is empty for now behind DLO.

I'm only looking at box scores (a Luddite like me doesn't understand any ESPN station that has a numeral or a letter after it), but I have to admit I've been surprised and disappointed with how few assists he has had in the first two games. I loved this guy's game in HS and college, but there's little future for a non-shooting PG if he's not an elite distributor...even if he can defend like Wright IV.

People born snake day is very quick mind and decision but very selfish. Their eyes can see things very fast than any zodiac that's why everything is slow motion for them. Their object is money ONLY. Now let's compared to people born snake day Kobe bryant, chris paul, Damian Lillard, Bryn Forbes, Lamelo ball, Serge Ibaka, Mike Conley, Tyrese Haliburton, Rudy Gay, Spencer Dinwiddie, dwight howard, and Trae Young. Lets compared Trae 9/19/98 snake rooster tiger almost similar but now if he can switch his number 25 (still very good #) to any combination add up to 2 like trae 11 and okogie 20, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2, Gary Trent Jr. (born 99 but Lunar is 98) 2 .

If Born 98 = 9+8 =17 = 8 then 10- 8 = 2 then he will be the next Trae or Okogie...lol

Love this. Missing Mook.
